Computer for 3D Animation

Hello all,

I would really appreciate some help with my computer build as I am relatively new to this.

Build: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/Bs!DyySFX5/

I am an animation student specialising in 3d. I need a reliable build that can run blender well. My budget is around £1300, to which I have managed to produce in the above setup. I just need some help in confirming this is a good, reliable build?

I do not intend on doing high-end complex projects as most people have advised to go for a more expensive build, but just something that will allow me to animate characters and things well on blender. I have selected Ryzen 7, with the Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card. I have 32 GB of memory, but will I need more that 2400Mhz on the ram?

Also, if there is any recommendation for the motherboard.

Essentially, I am just looking to get the best I can to this budget and if someone is able to help me with this or an alternative build, I would really appreciate this.

Below is what I would say you need to start with, but it's already £155 over budget. There's not a lot left to trim on it to still have a competent animation rig. I would advise holding off a bit longer until you can save up the difference. Better to spend more, and wisely, than less, and poorly.

Hi Scott,

This build is fantastic. I think I will go with this. In regard to the actual case for the machine, is that really important (with it being an "airflow") or would any case do?

Case is hugely important and often an overlooked element. Think of it like a car. You can shoehorn a great big V8 into a Mini, but without extensive airflow and cooling it's gonna blow.

There are multiple options to choose from but the 4000D would be the bottom rung for me (Lian 215 is also fine but had RGB, wasn't sure if that's what you were after).

MOST VALUED CONTRIBUTOR
The 4000D Airflow is very cheap for the quality of the case, it's hard to recommend an alternative when that case does so much right at such a low cost. Is there a specific case you're looking at?

This is a brilliant build. Thank you so much. I suppose I should ask what would be the best monitor and mouse to go for. Looking to have a duel monitor setup.

It's completely subjective to your work and how you layout your software. With no gaming in mind at all I would likely go for a 4k monitor as my main panel with a second 1080p monitor. There wouldn't need to be any specific criteria for it but IPS would often be favoured for the sort of work you are doing. Other than that, possibly 1440p ultrawide would be a good choice for a good size desktop.
