Clevo Control Center 3.0 Showing 'Null' - Not Working

Hi all,

Have recently purchased a Vortex IX laptop and all seems to be running well but the Clevo Control Center appears to be missing functionality. When I open it, it shows the word 'null' wherever it would normally display text information. I am able to set the keyboard LED colour, but cannot set individual key colours or use the keyboard shortcuts to operate it, despite that being mentioned in the manual. The flexikey does not work either, also showing the word 'null' in all text fields. The power plan icon also just says 'null' for all options. I've put some images below to illustrate the issue. I'm a bit baffled as to why it has some functionality and not others and would greatly appreciate any insight anyone has into how to get it to work properly. Is it likely to mean there are other aspects of my laptop functionality that aren't working properly? How much does CCC control behind the scenes?

Thanks!

I don't see that installed anywhere - do I need it to be?
Certainly until recently (late last year) Control Center relied on XTU being installed.

I would uninstall Clevo Control Center, then reboot.

Install XTU from here:

Then install the latest version of Control Center direct from Clevo here:

www.clevo.com.tw

You chassis Clevo model number will be on a label on the underside of the laptop. If you have any difficulty finding your laptop, post the model number and I'll find you a direct link.

Ah ok, thanks very much for your help and such a swift response. Should I contact PCS to ask them about this too as to why it was sent with missing key software? If I uninstall CCC and am unable to reinstall it for any reason, will that harm the laptop's essential functions at all?

This appears to be my chassis model, not sure how I find the right version of CCC to match? https://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_prodetail.asp?id=1180&lang=en

Can you post the chassis model number from the underside of the laptop?

it’s just software, it can’t “not install” it’s just a case of configuring it.

Curiously I could not download the latest 1.44 version as I got told this 'blob' does not exist, new one on me! (See attached image). So downloaded the one before that instead

Ah it does download from the USA one, but I wasn't sure whether that was a server or a region-specific version of the software?

Can throttlestop be installed at the same time as XTU? I have read that throttlestop is more reliable for undervolting CPUs and apparently this Vortex model needs a 100 mV undervolt to reduce the max temperatures a bit?

Yes, there shouldn't be any issue.

Apologies for further questions, but perhaps this will at least serve to help others in the future - there are multiple related parts of the Clevo control software visible in the Windows uninstall application: Control Center, Control Center Drivers, Fan Speed Setting, Flexikey, Fn hot keys and OSD, GPU Overclocking, LED Keyboard setting. Does uninstalling the Control Center result in automatic uninstall of the rest? Or must they all be uninstalled individually in a specific order? Presumably the downloaded package from Clevo will reinstall all of these elements rather than just the Drivers?

Is there an uninstall from the program menu rather than within programs and features? If so you'd need to use that.

I'm guessing, but if you uninstalled from programs and features, you'd probably have to uninstall each component.

It looks like there's only one Control Center option for uninstall if using: Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features, rather than using the Apps and features application in Windows, so I will try the control panel based one

Sorry, I meant in the program menu of the start button.

But yeah, if it's singular in control panel, that will work too.

I had a similar issue . Resolved it by installing the software from pcs.. not clevo. No xtub was needed.

Seems the later versions break it . I updated through Windows store.. which didn't help.

Just use pcs version and leave alone.
