Chose a PC over the new Xbox

Hi everyone,

I have previously requested a PC build but was put off the idea due to going into training with work and not having as much pocket money. However, I am now back and ready to spend money I definitely do not have!

I play a lot of FPS at the moment and have a dabble in the competitive scene whenever I'm feeling confident. Though I am into my shooters, I like to play RPG and campaign based games to relax. One game which I am really excited to play on is the new Assassins Creed (trying my best not to buy it on the xbox one so I can get the most out of the game on PC).

My budget is around £1,300 give or take and I already have a monitor which is: Dell S2719DGF 27" QHD (2560 x 1440) 155hz. I love RGB and could do with a keyboard and mouse being thrown into the mix if at all possible. I am pretty clueless when it comes to the parts and what they do so as much help as possible is required!

Show me what you can do and, of course, all help is greatly appreciated.

I think you will need to wait for the 3060Ti to come out to get close to your budget unfortunately. £1300 gets you an excellent 1080p build but 1440p requires a fair bit more power in the GPU, which tends to push the budget closer to £1500 to have it all.

I would agree, it shouldn’t be too much longer, hopefully a couple of weeks. It would be a perfect match for 1440p and far better than any of the current GPU’s that would fit the budget.

And would you not recommend just staying with the £1300 at 1080p? Is there much difference (£200 worth of difference)?

You already have the monitor for 1440p. For your FPS shooters it can allow some more peripheral vision and for the RPG games it will just look far better.

I wouldn't lower to 1080p under any circumstances nowadays.

Brilliant, thanks for the warnings. Any builds you could make in anticipation for the release? Would it force me to spend more on the other parts too?

After reading other posts, it seems like its more beneficial for my bank account to get the new Xbox and just wait until stock comes down in price for PC... I'm not sure if I've fully understood it though.
