I suppose, the one question I haven't asked, whether it is the I5 or the 5600x, will it last me 4-5 years on High 1440p, 60+ FPS before I need to spend a similar amount to catch up again? Not many AAA games purchased to consider.

The 5600X is a really high end CPU. The 3500X and the 3300X are the more singular thread options. I think we are spoiled with the AMD offerings now hence why 6core minimum has become the norm :D

FS2020 only uses one thread heavily at the moment but that should change with DX12 (everyone is praying for that to be the case). Even then, 6 cores should be amazing. If streaming then the extra couple of cores on the 5800X could be relevant but, again, they aren't necessary thanks to the hardware Nvenc codec on the Nvidia cards (hardware streaming). If using other streaming platforms I don't know how easily they can tap in but I'm sure it's straight forward.

I really love the 5800X as a chip, but it's priced so awkwardly and relies on much better hardware (better motherboard, better cooler) in order to be at it's optimum. By the time those items are costed, it's a huge jump in price over the 5600X... and by that time, for me at least, it's a no brainer to just go for the 5900X.... which is a true level up over the 5600X in multi-tasking (again.... pointless for gaming).

That's your choice to make. As you are considering it though, I'm guessing you haven't read any of the articles posted :D

The most multi tasking I do is putting a fancy space backgroud video on youtube on my 2nd screen while gaming on the other, which I have there since I am working from home with the covid pandemic, comes in handy though when I can watch youtube all day and work on the other screen ;)

Not yet! I am working as I'm posting back to you guys, bit short of time at the moment! And to be honest, 3070 availability is so low it might be a month or 2 before I get my hands on any new build... You think it will last me the 4-5 years?

The core system is likely to last you up to a decade, with a couple of GPU updates along the way.

As above. That system shouldn't want for anything other than a couple of GPU upgrades. At a push, if you wanted the latest and greatest, the next gen CPU might be a nice addition.
