This will be my third laptop purchase from PCS but I just wonder if anyone can see problems with the spec for Xubuntu.
The previous two have worked brilliantly and my 9yr old desktop is still going strong bt a new laptop now needed for my wife who has fairly light requirements, browsing, email, documents, but no video or music editing, and no gaming.
Thoughts please.

And after thinking about that one how about this, also for my wife.

I have today installed Xubuntu 22.04 on the Initia laptop, the second one of the two shown above, as a single boot with the test version of Windows wiped off.
All is working very well, though I have not yet managed to disable the keyboard back-light, though haven't had time to search so far.
I also find the large Trackpad a bit awkward but I always find them difficult to use, much preferring a mouse.

However, so far nothing to complain about!

Strangely enough after many reboots and fiddling with the keyboard shortcuts I now find that the keyboard LEDs are all turned off, which is incidentally, exactly what my wife and I wanted.
I have not used the github-tuxedo keyboard suggestion you sent, which I had found already by searching this forum, but I have fully updated the system several times so I begin to wonder if the system has simply set it up automatically by itself.
The keyboard keys that are supposed to make these changes still so not seem to work to turn the LESs back on so at the moment I'm a bit bamboozled!

A further update of the situation.
At boot there was no certainty about the keyboard light status, sometimes it was off but most times it was on full.
So this evening I followed the instructions and installed the tuxedo-keyboard github utility. This was easy enough though the uninformed might be confused by the extra packages that are required in order to run the build, make and install processes.
I think this is probably best carried out in Ubuntu by making sure you first install build-essentials and dkms packages, along with git of course.

All worked brilliantly and I can now manage the LEDS with the Fn key + the appropriate num-pad key which allow cycling through the several available colours, change the brightness up/down, or simply turn them off totally.
