Hiya, what’s your max budget and what make and model monitor are you pairing it with?
my max budget is probably around 1,500 trying to keep it as low as possible and not sure on the make or model of the monitor i will be getting yet but i was suggested a 120hz display

What's your budget for the monitor as that will affect the build? 144Hz is general gaming monitor, 120Hz is very early "beta" models or TVs

my monitor budget is probably around £200 but i have seen a few options for 144hz monitors within that budget, would the specs of the pc work together to give me what im looking for with such a monitor

You can do a lot better for the budget, the one you've done is on an old platform that's outperformed by 13th gen systems anyway, but an AMD system would give better performance still at the same cost.

The GPU will struggle even at 1080p, and the VRAM is too low for modern games anyway, it's a really bad card. An AMD alternative will give far better performance and compatibility with modern titles. The PSU also is too low and would limit any upgradeability. You'd have to upgrade the GPU in a few years no matter what you select now, that's just how custom PC's work, so you want to account for a 7 to 10 year lifespan of upgrades, you don't design it with your current uses in mind, otherwise you end up paying an awful lot more than you need to for poor performance because you'd have to replace the whole pc rather than just upgrading relevant components down the line.

Someone will be a long to design something.

But rebalancing the budget to £1400 for the PC and £300 for the monitor would equate to a far better overall experience. A PC is a system from input (PSU) to output (monitor), and can only achieve the performance of it's weakest component. So the monitor is hugely important. If you buy a £5000 pc and pair it with a £200 monitor, you've still only got a basic entry level experience as the monitor is limiting what the PC can put out.

thank you so much! this helps me a lot i will definitely look at this one, this may be a silly question and it may sound stupid but again i know nothing about these things (im trying to learn lol) but if i change the case on this build it wont affect the build in anyway will it? :)

It depends on what case you change it to, the case is one of the most important components in a build, as it effects cooling, if cooling isn't adequate the rest of the build will throttle thus reducing performance

If you wanted to stick with your original 4000D it's a very good option

@sckbuild abobe with a 4000d would be great for 1440p 144hz gaming.

when looking for a monitor at £300 make sure its a proper gaming monitor with either freesync or gsync (that syncronises the refresh rate of the monitor with the fps the computer is putting out which makes for a far smoother image) and IPS panel technology.

Good makes are:

LG and Samsung: they manufacture most of the panels made by everyone else so tend to pack a lot more in at the same budget.
MSI: usually impressive
Gigabyte: extremely good value while being good performers.

That will give you a pretty premium 1440p experience which will absolutely knock the socks off any 1080p experience, 1080p is really a dead resolution nowadays.

I suggested changing the case because I couldn't find the white one you had on the config tool – now I have found it but it does take you over the budget! A 4000D would be great, though.

For a display, if you look around you can get the Asus VG27AQ1A for £280 or the Gigabyte G27Q for around £270. Both would be great options. Or for £50 less you can get the AOC Q27G2U, which is what I personally use – not as good but still a very solid option.
