Check my specs (£1,500 budget)

Hi everyone,

I've had my current PC for about 8 years and I've decided to upgrade to a stronger model. I have next to no experience building PCs so I could use some feedback on my specs. I'm pretty much settled on motherboard, processor, and graphics card.

My main concern is the cooling and PCU; I don't want to spend too much as I'm already reaching my £1,500 budget. Will the Frostflow 200 be adequate to keep my other components at a stable temperature or should I get something stronger? PCSpecialist recommend a 750W PCU for the specs I've chosen. Will it be powerful enough or should I go for a 850W or 1000W PCU instead?

Your motherboard comes with on-board sound which these days is more than good enough, unless you plan on plugging in instruments or work in audio, you really don't need a sound card.

Remove Norton 360, it will do nothing but slow down your PC.

There are quite a few areas where the build is not optimal: Cheap, low end motherboard, very slow single channel RAM. Other areas aren't bad but could be optimised. The problem you have is the budget as it is quite restrictive.

Am I to assume this is for gaming? Any other uses? What monitor is it going to be paired with? (assuming 1080p as the budget is only going to be able to manage a low end 1080p build anyway)

Yes, this is for gaming; I don't care about overclocking, I just want something reliable that can run current gen games. I take it the PCU and cooler are adequate to keep this system running?

My current monitor is 1920x1080 but I'll likely buy a new one if necessary. My budget is just for the desktop, I'm not fussed about spending an extra hundred or two on a nicer monitor.

Not happy with the coller and would prefer a slightly stronger PSU to cover possible GPU upgrades down the road. You could transfer your Windows licence from your current PC (even if you are on Win 10, you can transfer it then upgrade to W11 for free), install Windows yourself and save £110 or so which could be put towards the system
