How long is a piece of string?

What settings do you require, what resolution do you play at, how many monitors and then we can guess but it wont be much more than a guess.

Did you make that yourself or get it sent direct from PCS? I'd change ALOT in that spec.

Yes, this was a quote I received for a PC with a budget of around £2400.

Ive got one moniter with a resolution of 1920 1200. If I can max out games I will but necessary in some games I play.

I want a new PC to last at least 4-5 years

Do you think your updated build would do that?

Thanks

New extreme gaming machine for October

Hi guys and gals,

I need some advice and I only have limited knowledge when it comes to building desktop PC's from scratch.

Ive got a budget of about £2500, but could go higher if needed but I dont suppose I will need to.

Would be running on one monitor with a resolution of about 1920x1200 or 1920x1080.

I would like any new PC to last approx 4-5 years running any games that come out comfortably, as my current gaming PC is coming up to that now.

Can anyone recommend a rig for my purposes please?

Much appreciated

Andy

Hi Andykg10,

Manta's build above would suit your purposes, its better if you stick to one thread so everyone can see previous suggestions etc. and stop folk asking the same questions :)

Difficult to say, 1920x1200 isn't too much harder to drive than 1920x1080 so a single 780ti should cope with it just fine. In 5 years time I'm not so sure. Would you be willing to swap out the GPU in a couple of years, it would give you much better performance if you did it that way rather than wasting money on 2 GPU's right off the bat.

Along with that dual cards are notoriously flaky when it comes to some games, they consume tonnes of power and produce more noise.

if possible id suggest going with my build and upgrading later. if you don't ever want to upgrade then go for this.

Thanks Manta,

That really helps. Ive got two ATI 5870's in my machine at the moment and ive never had any problems and its lasted about 4 and half years i think, but I see what your saying, so it gives me something to think about.

Alternatively, could I go for the Radeon R9 295x2, which is the worlds fasted instead of two, which I presume would be more than sufficient?

Nobody knows, that's the simple answer. Personally I'd just go for a single card now and then upgrade it if/when needed. if your happy to spend the cash on the 295x2 then I guess it would last but nobody can guarantee it with the pace of development as it is.

Thats cool, ive got a pretty good budget so yes I will probably got for the R9. My mate has got one and he said it is very good.

Thank you for your advice

The R9-295x2 is a dual GPU, 2 x GTX 780 ti will outperform it and be cheaper. But getting either seems unnecessary for 1 monitor at 1920x1080.

This is why I need advice on what graphics cards to get, because I really dont know what is best for my needs. I would like two cards because ive always had two to last me 4-5 years, like my current PC has.

Any advice would be appreciated. Its just the graphics im stuck on now.

We love you Ukraine
If you're planning on sticking with 1920x1200 going forward, I'd say get a single gtx780ti, even that's overkill. If you're looking to upgrade your monitor to 4k get sli gtx780ti.

Yep, i see no reason to get another moniter just yet as the one have is doing just fine at the moment in that res.

Im trying to save money wherever possible and I dont see the need for overkill, but I will probably upgrade at a later date.

Thanks SpyderTracks

New Extreme Gaming PC build advice

Hi guys,

I need some advice on this build please. How long will the one GTX 780ti last me for gaming in the future, before I need to upgrade to a second one? Ive put the PSU up purposefully for the reason of upgrading at a later date. I would be running at 1920x1200 res for now, but will be upgrading my monitor in the future. Im not overclocking the CPU, so is the cooling too much?

Thanks

Hi Andykg10, just an FYI, you don't need to make a new thread every time you want to post your build. Infact its better to keep to the same thread so forum members don't need to ask the same questions all over again :)
