Hello.

As I am currently on the waiting list for my RTX 3080 graphics card, I figured now may be a good time to share these specs to the forum so that I could make some amendments to my order if people see room for improvement or have any recommendations. I have gone over these specs a good few times. I am working towards video editing and special effects as well as high-end gaming so I was looking to build something nice and powerful with sufficient RAM for running multiple Adobe products at once (128GB was tempting, but seemed a little excessive). I am not the most well-educated person when it comes to hardware and computer specs so I had a couple of friends help advise me through this order, but it's always good to get more opinions especially since my order likely won't be ready till March time.

Do you have a budget to adhere to? It would make for an excellent gaming rig but it's not ideal for productivity. To keep the 3080 in there the budget would need to increase to accommodate the professional application side of things.

Is the 3080 really necessary? We always need more information to go on so if you have a look through the sticky thread it should help guide you in what we are looking for as well as give you some background on the "why's".

Sorry, I didn't catch that thread as the "post specs to forum" button sent me immediately here. Thanks for the links. I'll read through them and get back here once I have done so.

Hello Paul

I'm also looking to spec/buy a workstation for Adobe video editing/After Effects/some Cinema 4D. One thing I noticed - you (ARO_X) specced a 10GB graphics card. My current system has an 11GB Nvidia GTX1080Ti and I regularly have renders fail due to insufficient VRAM if I'm rendering something in the background (eg. an. After Effects comp) while trying to do something in Premiere at the same time.

So I'm looking to get (when they actually become available!) an RTX3090 with 24GB VRAM. So (if my experience is anything to go by) you might want to consider a graphics card with more than 10GB VRAM maybe. Or would a newer video card use its VRAM more effectively than my GTX1080Ti, and there's some other reason why I'm running out of VRAM?

Another option I'm considering is getting a new PC with no video card at all, using my GTX1080Ti for now, then buying an RTX3090 when they become readily available.
