What do you think of this build for gaming mainly fps games like cod the division franchise looking at an alienware ultrawide qd oled monitor budget 4k for pc 1k for monitor.might wait and change the cpu for the new 3d one when they come out.

Looks like an absolute behemoth, I’m very jealous!
You don’t need the Arctic paste as the Capellix cooler comes with high quality paste attached. You could consider going up to the H150i, it’s not a huge amount of extra cooling over the H115i, but with the high end CPUs every extra bit of cooling counts.
Gaming on the Alienware, I would definitely consider waiting for the X3D parts for that extra gaming boost. The 4090 is already creating a CPU bottleneck on some 1440p titles, having that extra CPU grunt will give you that extra cushioning for the future. Similarly with the PSU, 1000W should be about fine for the 4090, but we’ve seen the generational power requirements increase, going for a 1200W PSU now should prepare you for slotting something like the 6090/6080 a few years down the line.

lg oled 240hz
What resolution?

I don't think you'll benefit from the 7950x for gaming, it's a multithreaded chip for things like video editing or data science.

The 7900X3D would be overkill for gaming I think although wait for 3rd party reviews in a few days

1440p monitor I would prefer higher refresh rates than 4k
You know they're just about to release an LG 4k 240Hz monitor?

You won't benefit from the 4090 then, most of it won't be used, rather overpowered.

The 4070ti or 4080 would be ample.

I agree and think the 4090 is overkill too, paying so much for little gains. You could always go team red too and look at the 7900 XTX which is showing better performance than the 4080 but a little bit cheaper (not that that seems much of an issue for you)

I’ve recently purchased pretty much same build other than motherboard Rog strix x670e-e gaming and 1200w power supply depending on game am playing use either ultrawide 165hz or 4k 144hz
4090 definitely seems to be overkill on ultrawide never mind 1440p max frames at 80% gpu usage on titles I’ve run although I assume a higher refresh would push it harder
really only seems to be at 4k I see the benefits of extra power/outlay for the card

I'm in to call of duty at the moment and with the 4090 at 1440p the fps is close to 240 at max graphic card utilisation with the youtube videos ive seen so I'll probably go with that.Im sure once the new chips come out pcs will become quite busy.

That's without optimising it, you optimise any game, max settings is pointless on PC even moreso on call of duty which is a very badly designed port, if you lower RTX to medium it makes absolutely no difference to graphics but hugely increases frames, you'd be massively over 240hz of a 4090

Most games have settings you can disable without affecting performance in a noticeable way. Common misconception that ultra graphics is worthwhile.

Ok decided to go for a 4k monitor so this is my hopefully final build as i don't want to wait any longer. The case doesn't have an exhaust fan so I added one to the list.Thoughts?

if you really want an exhaust fan in that case then I'd get a corsair 120 ML RGB Series fan off of Amazon and fit it yourself, by doing that you can plug it into one of the spare channels on the commander core that comes with the cooler and configure its lighting and fan speed through Icue

To some people (and I will admit that some people aren't always logical thinkers :ROFLMAO:), buying a PC without an exhaust fan would be akin to walking down the street without clothes on...one just doesn't do that ;) When I bought my system, the first thing I did when I was looking was to make sure it had an exhaust fan...when it arrived, the first thing I did was make sure the exhaust fan was a decent one
The point is, it already has 3 exhaust fans.

It's a common misconception that adding hundreds of fans increases airflow, this isn't the case, it can cause dead spots or negative pressure.

Agreed, i have the Corsair 5000D case and got PCS to put 3 x LL120's on the front and one on the back (the rear is just there for RGB goodness and is ticking over on a fixed RPM)

They moved the original fans to the side in intake mode, i have just removed them and put the Corsair blanking plate back in and the result its quieter and if anything seems to be cooler.
