build advice

Corsair 4000D Airflow
RTX 3060 Ti
16GB 3200Mhz
Corsair RM850X
CPU ???

I have used Intel all my life, so I’ve never known any different and therefore, having never having used AMD myself, I might be forgiven for not trusting something I’ve never used personally.

Most important considerations:

- longevity/future proofing
- thermals/low temps (which chips run naturally cooler?) and strong airflow cooler compatibility (thoughts on the PCS Frostflow 150?)
- purely gaming (as opposed to workstation/editing etc)
- power consumption (to a lesser degree)
- well above 60fps at 1080p on high(ish) settings

With this in mind, I am currently torn between the i7 10700k, i5 11600k, and Ryzen 5800X.

Thoughts? Advice?

Could go for the 5600x, its very powerful but runs cooler and would be cheaper then the 5800x
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I've looked more in to the 5600X and I'm very tempted to go with it given the price vs performance of it, being great value.

However, I'm mindful of the new generation of consoles which are now using 8 core chips, and therefore future software and game engines are more likely to be optimised for 8 cores...

It's all down to budget and the kinds of games you play as to what's suitable?

You also said 1080p build, but you've got a 1440p gpu configured.
