Hi,

Ive just put an order through for a PC for my son. I included a ASUS 3080 (with a Ryzen 5900). The 6800XT wasn't available when I ordered, but having now come on the forums I see it will be available at 2pm today. so, Question is, do I amend my order and scrap the 3080 and replace with 6800XT? opinions welcomed. Also, Is amending my order a straight forward process or would I have to cancel, wait for a refund and re-order? thanks Rob

You can amend your order. Log in to your account on PC Specialist website. There should be amend order option there on the order details bit. Hopefully the RX 6800XT available by 2pm today (fingers crossed)

Hard to tell. AMD is not let letting the techtubers reveal benchmarks and other stuff until sometime today. So far it looks like both have their pros and cons. AMD selling the idea of more vram, faster benchmarks with some games, more overclocking potential, smart access memory, better power effeciency. Whiles NVIDIA is selling on newer vram, better raytracing performance, faster on few of the games and better drivers.

I think it will boil down to personal preference. Can't go wrong with either AMD or NVIDIA, especially with the Asus version of 3080. Personally I will choose 6800xt as raytracing performance is not a priority for me.

Thanks again for your input. Ray tracing isn't important to my son either - he plays/streams competitive Fortnite so FPS is all he cares about. I think this spec is complete overkill for Fortnite (but im hoping to use it when he's in school) hence the better specs lol

Definitely won't matter at all for Fortnite. I know how you feel though, my order has been in pre-production for 10 days and in that time I've amended from a 3090 to 3080 to 6800 XT. If it hasn't been built by December 8 I'll probably switch to a 6900 XT and if that delays it until January and the 3080Ti cards come I'll probably switch to that. I'm like a dog with too many bones at this point not knowing which one I want!
