"well" thats put me off placing my order for i5 overclocked system today. I will have to think hard and long this week, before placing any order.

I'll let you guys know how I get on with them in the morning. i want to get to the bottom of this with them ASAP, I'm sick of looking at it at the moment, there is a serious issue with this for sure.

its more likely due to z77 boards as they are still fairly new and overclocking will always be a tricky thing, thats why if you watch pro overclockers on comps will go round with a multimeter and check a selection of motherboards before picking one to overclock. The cooler wouldnt fit correctly if the cpu wasnt seated properly and if the cooler was seating properly that would mean bent pins which would stop the pc turning on all together.

PCS supply these boards and therefore should all be compatable and work as advertised. They should not sell them if the boards are not compatable with overclock cpu's.

hey,. sorry to hear about ya issues,

can you post your full spec mate?

also what cooling setup do you have? case fans?

also, @ robm and fergal, for gaming you dont need any sort of overclock. At all! You may gain as little as10 extra frames, up your electric bill massively, as well as the heat output from the system. You need a high end case, cpu cooler, and your case fans setup in a very effective way to ensure temps are as cool as physically possible.

edit - dont worry bout spec lol seen on front page.

umm im not saying there uncompatible all ivybridge 1155 boards are z77 im just saying there will always be teething problems with new hardware expecially when overclocking.

It's not what I've payed for and I expect it to run as it should do, I got PSC to to overclock it so it is stable. The bit that gets me is the tests PCS say they have carried out when they clearly haven't, it's not capable of running any of those tests.

So i checked out your case,

you have a major high end rig in a mid tower case, but you only have one 200mm front intake fan!, one 200mm fan isnt enough to cooler cool your drivers, then two 670's, aswell as a hefty overclock. Regardless of how good the cpu cooler is, no airflow to it, makes it pull in hot air coming from your two 670's!

It may be that at PCS HQ its alot cooler than in your house, ambient temps account for alot in hardware temps.

That's what I'd say it is, no cool air getting to the eco cooler, which in turn results in high temps.

Id get a few cheap fans to connect on the side panel/and other places too.

Hmm just looking now you could possibly have either a heat issue or there may not be enough power going to your overclock as your motherboard has SMART DIGI+ which controls power throughout your motherboard. Your motherboard definatly handle your overclock as if you had enough cooling it can be clocked upto 6Ghz.

lets just check do you have 1x 200mm intake fan at the frount of the case 2x 200mm exhausts in the roof and the 120mm at the rear as exhaust?

Fergal

Just one in the roof and one in rear, and I have the side panel off and room temp is 18c

hmm you have the ai suite installed? check with what voltages your motherboard is getting though SMART DIGI+ and you might want to check with pcs on what these should be. you have checked your cooler is seated ok?

Fergal

Everything seems seated correctly and voltages are correct too and I've got all the setting from PCS several times.

I'm pretty sick of it right now, I've only bought the overclock for the future incase I play some cpu intensive games, I plan to not run the overclock most of the time and run on default stock settings.
Just want what I've payed for to work as it should, come the time I may want to use it.
