Boot failure detected

So this just happened again. This time I didn’t press anything and just let it do its thing. It’s only happened twice and both times it’s been after downloading and installing windows updates.
It’s not really making sense, you have to describe it a bit better.

Whenever I restart or boot my system when windows updates haven’t been downloaded or installed, it does not fail to boot.

Are you running those two 990 Pro SSDs in a RAID array? The symptoms you describe sound most likely to be storage drive related I would think.

Had a search of how to check this and to my understanding I am not. The place I checked said if both of my disks say 'basic' while looking in disk management then they aren't RAIDed, and both of them say basic.

7th March 2024.
So we need to be clear about what the actual issue is here as it’s still not clear.

The BIOS message you were getting the last time where your keyboard couldn’t enter the selection was a BIOS reset notification. This would happen if something like a memory overclock had become unstable

Os that the same notification you’re getting now?

Can you post a photo of the screen?

Im wondering if this is CPU degradation as the timeline would fit.

Have you applied the Intel voltage microcode update that was released in August? If not I would suspect the CPU is on its way out

I download and install windows updates.
I attempt to restart my system to apply the updates.
My system doesn't complete the restart and then proceeds to beep 4 times.
I black screen for a good 5-10 seconds and then pops up with this menu. (Ignore the values as this isn't mine I had to get a picture from google as I didn't take a photo if it.
I choose 'Load optimised defaults and then boot.
My system restarts and works as normal.

As for the Intel voltage microcode update you referred to, I don't know. I don't recall seeing any downloads named that. Where would I find if I have done this?

It's been all over world news headlines since January

I personally think this is CPU degradation, that message is that the BIOS configuration (which is set to defaults anyway) is unstable and therefor it's asking you to lower them to default baselines. Once degradation has set in, there's nothing you can do to fix it, you have to replace the processor, the silicon has literally melted internally

I'm almost certain the CPU silicon is degraded and it can't even manage the 4800MHz baseline of the RAM. The fact it's intermittent also would strengthen that argument.

I would contact PCS about an RMA for the whole system. In future, it's worth getting advice on a system, no one would have recommended that build for reasons you're now experiencing.

How would it only affect when I download and install windows updates, doesn't make sense
its degradation, it starts off with things like memory over clocks suddenly not supported, weird behaviour in windows often looking like graphical issues, then over time deteriorates until you can’t boot at all.

Its damn hard to verify because symptoms are so varied between systems.

It won’t make sense because it’s no longer functioning with logic, that what happens, a simple sum of 2 +4 returns -677 rather than 6
