Black Myth Wukong - Crashing

Hey Everyone, So I decided to make the move from console to PC gaming in August and so far so good apart from BMW !
Chapter 1 no problem
Chapter 2 randomly crashes to desktop with no error messages, I didn't game for about 2.5 months over the Xmas period and when I finally got round to it my computer did about 20 windows updates so Im assuming this has shafted me !
Ive tried most of the fixes found on google and nothing works, so my question is has anyone encountered the same issues and found a resolution ?

TIA

AMD Ryzen 7800X3D
Gigabyte RTX 4070 Super

The PSU is barebones acceptable for minimum GPU power but that’s not taking into account any transient spikes as it’s an ATX 2 PSU

BMW is one of the heaviest loads on a GPU so will unquestionably be forcing maximum transient spikes, I suspect that may be your issue.

But a good first thing would be to uninstall GPU drivers using DDU and reinstall clean, there have been issues with recent Nvidia drivers.

Can you also post a screenshot of your optional updates page?

Also what make and model monitor are you using?

Yes it is 😂
Oh dear, why do people not get advice!!!

No way you can play BMW at 4k, not a hope in hell, not with any kind of decent performance anyway.

The RTX 4070 Super isn't a 4k card so will struggle without severely reducing settings and even then would be poor performance. Couple that with only 12Gb VRAM, if you're not reducing textures quite significantly, at 4k a lot of modern games require over 16Gb VRAM.

Your best bet is to reduce to 1080p for BMW

But I still think the PSU is the issue, it's not suitable for the build

In the game settings I drop the resolution to 1440p is that irrelevant ? All your advice makes sense but what doesn't make sense is how the game ran fine during chapter 1 with very high graphics settings at 1440p with an average FPS of 123 and now after a load of updates it is bricked ?

I’d suggest reading up on transient spikes. Chapter 2 is pushing spikes where chapter 1 didn’t.

If you look at Corsair’s PSU suggestions for the 4070 Super, they recommend a minimum of 850w ATX 3 which accounts for 1275w spikes.

Yours being ATX 2 only accounts for 750w max, it’s just not enough

That's slightly annoying seeing as though it was the recommended PSU from PC Specialists !
The configurator PSU calculation system is old and doesn’t tally up with modern performance hardware.

But even so, it only highlights the minimum you can get away with, it’s not recommending that in any way if you read what it actually says.

Anyone who knows how to design a system would never provision that low in the first place which is why it’s so important to get advice if you’re not familiar with hardware

Wasn't the 750RMe the first ATX3 PSU that PCS offered...and we were recommending it over the older ATX2 850W RM model?

FYI, this was my post about performance on a RTX4090 at wide-1440p.

In summary, on a RTX4090, if I wanted more than 60FPS I couldn't use more than [High + no FG + no RT] or [Very High + FG + no RT]

The more I look think you may be right, may have been released in around May last year to the PCS configurator. But how did we know it was ATX 3 if it wasn't listed on the configurator as such?
