Enthusiast
Hi,
This is my PCS build and the full spec is below.
This problem is related to the following thread: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...-to-recover-bios-setting-error-message.97194/
My system was collected by DPD on the 10th July and was received by PC Specialist the next day. Because they didn't actually have any stock of the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi motherboard, they had to source it from elsewhere, which took over a week before they could complete the RMA
Additionally as part of the RMA, I added another M.2 SSD drive: 1TB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO which has Windows 11 Pro installed.
I am using my existing M.2 SSD: 1TB Corsair Force MP600 for games. This is installed in the second M.2 SSD slot, located below the GPU with its heatsink installed.
I received my system back from PC Specialist after an RMA on 24th July with a new motherboard installed to replace my originally installed one, due to a broken CMOS battery holder.
My new motherboard is an Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi.
The system has been working fine until Thursday night when the following error was shown at startup: ‘Please enter setup to recover setting’. When I pressed F1 to enter the BIOS, the date and time had been reset to default, along with other settings, e.g. my RAM is 3200Mhz, but it is currently running at a frequency of 2133Mhz.
I have attached photos showing the following: the error message at POST, the BIOS screen showing default settings and the side window of the PC showing the system while it is running.
I noticed a little wire, which appears to be 2 wires; 1 red and 1 black and has a small round piece at the end and is dangling in mid-air. This is located below my GPU to the right. I am not sure what it is. Is this anything to worry about?
I have only had the system back since 24th July and would this indicate that the CMOS backup battery needs to be replaced already?
I previously purchased a 4-pack of Duracell CR2032 batteries from Argos a few months ago, which have a child-safe coating. Would these work okay or should I buy a different brand? I am asking due to some users of these batteries having a problem if using them with Apple AirTags.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.
Thank you.
