Better detailed Specs required

I have recently bought two PCS laptops one Ionico Series: 17.3" and one Initia Series: 15.6".
Basically very happy with the Ionico and everything seems to work as expected. Not quite so with the Initia. The Windows Hello face recognition does not work. Following discussions with three different Support engineers the consensus is that this laptop does not have an IR camera and hence does not support this Windows feature. So one question is "why does it not have an IR camera, while only a £500+ device its not bottom of the range and I am sure that cheaper laptops out in the world support this function. A second question is that while its great that using PCS you can configure many aspects of the build, the Specs do not provide any detail which for instance states whether the camera is IR or not. Both my laptops simply say INTEGRATED 1MP HD WEBCAM and so how am I to determine that the Hello face feature will work on one but not the other. While the Hello face is not a deal breaker it is very frustrating and disappointing that a new £500+ device does not support what is a pretty basic feature which has been around for some time now.

These are not things that we can answer, none of us work for PCS, you'd need to speak to them directly.

Not sure if it relates but in the description for the Ionico I see Infrared Webcam. The Initia does not state this.

Any features not listed but specifically required would always be queried through customer service (well I would at least).

I understand your frustration but the information is there on the website.

Hi, thanks for the response. I was not expecting a specific answer to the above, it was more a call out to see if any others had a similar problem. Having looked through a number of product descriptions I can see that some do indicate an IR camera. For my part I did not realise this was a requirement for the particular feature, but that down to me. Thanks again.

Hi, thanks for the response. Having looked again I can see that in the top description for the Ionico it does say Infrared webcam while in the main specs it does not mention this (just HD webcam). As mentioned above I was not really aware that IR was a prerequisite for face recognition, but that's still down to me. As I say its not a deal breaker, just a disappointment. Thanks again, this is a very useful and helpful forum.
