Best GPU for 3D Laser Scanning & Point Cloud Processing – 5090/4090 vs. 5080/4080?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to order a new laptop (recoil series) with an Intel i9 processor, 64GB RAM, and 4TB SSD for 3D laser scanning, point cloud processing, and related applications. However, I’m unsure about the best GPU choice between the 5090/4090 and 5080/4080.

Does anyone here have experience with these applications on specific GPUs? Is the higher-tier GPU worth the extra cost for this kind of workload? I’d appreciate any insights or recommendations!

I'd say get the one that fits your budget...

Don't think the GPU will have any affect on the processing speed.... just the navigating/visualising of the pointcloud
