Hi,

Was hoping to get some feedback on the below build, looking for a budget build that will be for some light gaming, I am happy to stretch the budget further than what is below if the performance improvements are worth while. Thanks in advance!

What is your maximum budget, as you really will not get a reasonable gaming for that low a budget.

simply choosing things like a cheap case etc, power supply is not good use of money.

there are very few games you will be able to play at a reasonable level even at 1080p.

a new console would likely be a better move.

however, have you some examples of games you would play or want to play?

I am mainly in to strategy games, so looking at games such as cities skylines or civilization, however it would be good to still be able to play future releases of similar titles. I also enjoy role playing games so something say like Witcher 3 as an example. I would say a maximum of £1000 if possible but if able to get it lower than even better.

The current 1660 cards are out of stock, also gfx card prices are really crazy, going for a 1050, 1660, even a 2060 is all with a £100 or so of each other.

I have specced this without a gfx card, mainly as the 1660 is out of stock. The 2nd build is more but I believe gives you a decent build for your money.

if you want it under £1k, the you could replace the CPU with Ryzen 5 3600x which would be £916.

Hi no problem, it’s really a case of making a choice.

As mentioned at the start playing games, e.g The Witcher still needs a decent system.

to me it’s always best to invest in a system you can upgrade, rather than one you replace.

however it all comes down to budget.

Theres always the option of holding fire and maybe coming back to the table in 6months time with a healthier budget and the world and stock levels slightly less crazy whats 6 months on a build that should last you 5 - 8 years
