Backlight Keyboard

Bought a Vortex IV recently and can't seem to operate the backlight properly.

The FN key controls my volume, mute etc fine however when it comes to using the FN key to control my backlight controls I'm no longer able to do so. Those controls are located on the keypad section on the right of the keyboard. I was able to set it up but no more access now. Tried both with the Num lock on and off. Its only something a function I want to use occasionally and turn off the save power when not needed.

Ive already tried reinstalling the drivers from the CD provided.

Any help / advice would be great.

Hi Tazmin

Can you call up the Keyboard Backlight Application from the Desktop using the Fn + Esc key combination (to toggle its Control Panel on or off) BackLight Keyboard is one of the items in this panel?

Alternatively you can access it from the Desktop Taskbar Notification area (you may need to click on the white triangle to show the hidden icons) looks like a mini laptop icon (mine is labelled HotKey 8.0111).
If not visible use the Customise link and set the icon Behaviours to "Show icon and notifications" to keep it visible in this area.

Hi, I just opened up and turned on my new Vortex IV and I have no way of controlling my backlighting either. Nothing in the notification area and nothing from pressing Fn + Esc. Help?

Are the drivers installed? Check this in Device Manager:

From Desktop use Windows Key + X combination to select Device Manager. Expand the section under Mice and other pointing devices - should show Synaptics PS/2 Port touchpad.

If not present or showing with a yellow ! symbol run the Drivers and Utilities disk that came with the laptop to install or re-install the Touchpad driver.

When the driver is correctly installed the Fn + Esc key combination should bring up the Control Panel application where you can access the Backlight Keyboard functionality

Did you get this issue resolved? Got my Vortex IV at the weekend and have same issue, cannot bring up control centre or change backlit LED's. Also can't use fingerprint swipe  Other than that, very pleased with it

Howdy
I have the same issues as above. Synaptics wasn't installed, but I've done that, and the keypad swipes etc now work....but the fn+/ or fn+Esc doesn't.
(isn't it odd that the keypad driver would control the keyboard)
Help appreciated... :)

Old issue, present day

I have an OCTANE SERIES BACKLIT UK KEYBOARD WITH NUMBER PAD and for some reason the software used to change the backlight and creat macros has gone. I messaged PCs on my order account and they mentioned the driver for control centre. I have looked on google for this and it only comes up with the intel control centre and when i tried to install it, it said the admistrator blocked this action so i tried 'run as administrator' and recieved the same mesage.

I have even resorted to trying to find the logo of the software on google. In my hidden icons menu there used to be a keyboard key symbol and when it was on glowed blue.

This is ruining my gaming experience

The Control Centre is probably Clevo Control Centre (Clevo being the company that makes the chassis).

It might be available in the downloads section of your PC Specialist account.

Otherwise, if you look at the underside of your laptop chassis there should be a clevo model number (e.g. P775TM1-G). You can get Clevo drivers here: http://www.clevo.com/en/e-services/Download/default.asp

I think Clevo Control Centre can also be known as Hotkey for some models.

It's called hotkey or control center, flexikey is a component of it, it's standard software for all clevo laptops.
As Oussebon says, you'll need to get the clevo model number off the bottom of your laptop and download the software from www.clevo.com.tw, if it isn't in the downloads section of the main PCS site.

So after installing, you should have a hotkey symbol in running programs? Double click on that and it should run hotkey?
