Are your headphones connected to the audio outputs at the rear of the machine, or are they using the connections at the front of the case.

If they are plugged into the front panel connection, have you tried plugging into the rear audio connection and seeing if you still have the same audio issues ?

I'd double check all the connections to the audio side of things, you might have accidentally dislodged one

That's what I'm thinking maybe the front panel audio header has not been connected properly, hence hoping that the rear connections work ok, in which case narrows down the issue somewhat ;)

Still can't sort issue out.

When i go plackback in sound option and headphones, Right click and test i can hear sound. But can't hear game audio when gaming, Can't hear stuff on youtube or facebook. Everything is upto 100%. Headphone set to default what i use..
I have tried headphones in the port on top of case. No sound. I have plugged speakers in. No Sound.
I have updated drivers.

Been trying since yesterday to sort it. Checked internet. No Joy

Please note that when tested the striked out text did resolve the issue. However if headphones are unplugged and then plugged back in again, no sound is played through them until pc is rebooted. So for me it's obviously a driver issue ( although not something I am concerned about as I wouldnt normally use headphones), which makes me suspect that the OP issue is more driver related than anything else.

hmmm ok so I use the speakers built into my monitor for audio, hence the sound is via the hdmi cable and that has worked since I got the pc.

Thus I hadnt tested the audio jacks at either the rear or on my front panel

Just tested by using headphones on both front panel and back panel and now dont get sound, but was able to get a test sound. So similar issue to the OP's

Noticed that I had a couple of programs called Sonar Radar and Sonar Studio installed, and when checking "open Sound Settings" and "Output Devices" there were entries that referred to them. Had no idea what they were, but noted on the ASUS site that they were included within the sound driver for my motherboard. Couldnt get any of those options to work, so uninstalled and rebooted pc. Still same issue.

Saw an entry for Realtek Audio Console in my programs, however when I tried to open it, I just got a splash screen.

Did some research which led me to https://win10.guru/putting-realtek-audio-console-to-work/

Which included some drivers hosted on a french website. Being dubious I ignored that and carried on searching and came across this, by the same author of the above page

https://www.tenforums.com/sound-aud...o-console-requires-realtek-hd-uad-driver.html (44 page thread, in which a lot of people report success)

First page of the thread suggests getting Realtek HD Audio (UAD) from your motherboard manufacturer or if there werent any avaialble to download an unofficial update from majorgeeks. Looked on Asus site and couldnt see any alternatives, so took a chance with the majorgeeks site

Installed and when checking under "open sound settings" I was able to see the following :

sound options.jpg

Selecting speakers (Realtek(R)Audio) and had sound coming through my headphones via the front panel.

Maybe there is a simpler and possibly more official method of doing the above, but may be worth a try, providing you consider the risk acceptable.

Mods - If the above is is deemed to be not an acceptable solution then please feel free to delete, as I don't wish to mislead or put anyone at risk.

As an aside, still unable to get the Realtek Audio Console to load, splash screen stays visible a little longer, but am not to bothered, as I was still able to get the headphones to work, and have thus reverted to my pre experimenting setup via System Restore, so am back to using my monitors inbuilt speakers

Just a thought do you have a system restore that you can revert back to prior to you cleaning your pc. I'm just wondering if there has been an update that installed upon you re assembling the pc which is causing the issue

Did you make sure not to install the Nvidia audio drivers? It has been reported on other threads that these can conflict with the Realtek drivers.
