I meant to say 165hz not 144hz ! I'm too use to saying/typing 144 so my bad. And it's the Asus TUF VG27WQ.
That’s not 4k, it’s 1440p.

Anything above the 3060ti is just not going to be used.

An AMD build would be far better, if you can hold on til the 8th October, they’re announcing new CPUs which are going to be quite extraordinary, worth waiting for.

I see, thanks.
I'm planning on ordering in a few days so if you could suggest/recommend a AMD build that is good for gaming in your opinion/experience, that would be appreciated!

The 3060ti isn’t released for a couple of weeks along with the new processors.

As someone that has a 1440p monitor 144Hz refresh and the 3080, I can say it also depends on the games you play as well. I am playing Shadow of the tomb raider, max setting and getting average 105fps, I have seen it as high as 129. I also play MSFS2020 and get about 60fps at max setting, and in Forza Mortasports 7 I get 155fps, in Alien Isolation I'll prob get over 200fps.

While the advice about the GPU and monitor is spot on, there is no point having a 3080, 4k monitor and only playing solitaire, you will be wasting money, so also think of the games you will be playing as well.

I hope this helps.
Are you playing shadow of the tomb raider with DLSS on? You’ll get far better performance by enabling it.

Hi, I have DLSS turned on, don't get me wrong, I read your comment and got a bit excited thinking I was goingt o get more performance , alas it's already turned on.
Ok, yeah, that does seem about right, I expected more. That’s with Ray Tracing on I take it.

There are always going to be wildcard games. Most of those you mentioned are those, they’re games like the original Crysis where it took years for hardware to catch up and play it properly on full settings.

Remember Ray Tracing is still a brand new technology only in its second instance and there’s still a significant performance impact in enabling it. This will improve, hopefully at a driver level rather than only hardware.

When we suggest a GPU, it’s for its average frame rate which will normally not include wildcard games.

But you’re absolutely right, if these games are the games you’re going to be focussing on, then that’s not a normal requirement and needs to be specially catered for.

Yeah ray tracing is set to ultra, it's a stunning looking game, if you get the chance to play it, I recommend it, but thats now going off topic lol
Ray tracing is phenomenal, I’ve not actually seen it in person, but have a 5900x and rtx3080 build planned for next year so I can see it up close.
