Are these alright for 60hz 1080p gaming?

There are a few things you should probably look at changing, but to start with can you let us know what your budget is? Also, will you be using this for anything other than gaming?

Hi my budget is 850 forgot to mention using this for my uni work and my bro is using this for work. plus I’m planning to get a better monitor the one I currently have is 60hz, later this year planing to get 144hz monitor 1ms refresh. I have already updated some bits of this not sure why it’s not showing but I have upgraded the WiFi card in the Amend order.

Here's what I've come up with. I would have preferred an X570 motherboard because they will support the next generation of AMD CPUs - apparently this will also be possible with a B450 but will not be as straightforward. I wasn't able to squeeze the extra £100 out of anywhere else, especially since the 3300X CPU is out of stock until next month. On the plus side, the cheaper motherboard has let me sneak a tiny M.2 drive into the build - you won't be able to fit much more than the OS on here but that should at least mean you don't spend as much time waiting for your PC to boot.

Didn't register your comment about a monitor upgrade later this year. If you can stretch your budget a little then upgrading the graphics card to the GTX 1660 Super should get you to 144Hz at 1080p.

Normally I'd advise against over-specifying the graphics card, especially since we aren't far away from the RTX 3000 series being released (which should offer better performance for the price compared to anything currently available).

In this case I think it's justified because your options pretty much boil down to:
1. Buy the 1650S for 1080p at 60Hz, then later on buy an RTX 3000 series and a monitor
2. Buy the 1660S for 1080p at 144Hz, then later on buy a monitor

If you just want to hit 144Hz 1080p by the end of the year then option 2 will hurt your wallet less. If you were potentially looking for 1440p in a few years' time and are happy with 60Hz 1080p in the meantime then option 1 is the winner.

I wouldn't bother looking for a 1080p 144Hz monitor, it's not really an upgrade.

1080p is really a dead resolution, all 3000 series GPU's are very likely going to be overpowered for it, it's had it's day and is really poor quality by today's standards.

You can get a really good budget 1440p 144Hz monitor for around the same cost as a mid range 1080p 144Hz anyway.

I'd just settle for the 1650 Super for now, then upgrade the GPU and monitor for 1440p 144hz, by then (assuming naming remains the same) you should be able to pick up a GTX1760 which would be around the same cost as the 1660 Super but would be far more powerful and suit 1440p gaming.

That way you're maximising your spend and utilisation.

Just to give you some ideas of budget 1440p 144Hz monitors worth bearing in mind for the future:

And by the time you come to buy them, they'll likely be even cheaper as 1440p will be more mainstream and Covid will (hopefully) have been brought more under control.

Thanks 😊 just bought the 1660 super and I definitely look into the monitor u suggested. Hopefully corona dies down and by the end of year the 1440p monitor go cheaper 😂 🙏🏾

I would drop to the 1650 Super, you won't use the 1660 Super.

Yep 👍🏾 hopefully end of this year or the start of next year.
It's a good time to upgrade.

The leaks all suggest it will be 40% uptick in general perforrmance with massive improvements in Ray Tracing capabilities to the point where it will actually be usable rather than requiring a 2080ti for 1080p 60Hz.

They're set to be rather special cards.

Also AMD are rumoured to be releasing something fairly competitive at the high end also which may well mean nVidia are forced to reduce prices.
