Any changes recommended?

Hey guys!

I'm new here and I just configurated a pc that I want to last for a longtime..

What I want to do on it is to game most of the time, but as I don't have the needed Know-How I would like you to take a look at the chosen specs and tell me if I should change anything.. (I want a High-End Gaming PC).. Is there anyway to maybe downgrade it a bit but it still reach an excellent experience?

Thanks a lot for your opinions already!

Cheers
Juni0r

Hi @Juni0r321123 , can you include the link to your spec, the total cost for your build and all of the relevant other options. Please also include the configurable link from the bottom of the spec.

What will you be using the PC for (gaming mostly presumably?) what sort of games and what monitor will you be using?

What is your budget?

Hi @steaky360
Thanks for your response!

Yes, the PC will mostly be used for FPS-games.

I will be buying a new monitor aswell: 24" MSI OPTIX G242 (144 Hz)

Here's the link to the spec: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/intel-z490-pc/kX4ya8UAHD/

The total cost in CHF is of: 2'900.- incl. VAT, Monitor and Delivery.

Thanks again!

Godlike
With this budget I would be looking at 1440p, not 1080p.
Current-gen CPU, 16GB of fast RAM (32GB is not needed for FPS titles), revamped storage, high quality PSU and cooling, and a suitable 1440p monitor to round things off.
There might be a couple of further tweaks I would make, but I would recommend you putting this through the Swiss configurator and seeing how much it comes out to, and we can make a couple of changes once we know how much this costs.

Thanks for your reply and for your ideas!

I like your changes and ideas! Still, I have a feeling that I would be much safer with an 16-Core i9-12900KF (3.2GHz) 30MB Cache.

What do you think? Is the CPU-Change reasonable?

The price with the specs you sent and my CPU will be at CHF 2'814.00 incl. VAT and delivery.

Again, I'm very grateful for all the help I'll get here, cause I'm really a noob to these things.

Another Juni0r?

Jokes aside! The 12900K isn't really worth the premium over the 12700K for purely gaming loads. It's a monsterous CPU don't get me wrong but gaming doesn't currently scale much past 6 cores and the 12900K is an incredibly hot and incredibly power hungry CPU. If you want the best gaming CPU I'd go for the 12700K, but it has to be said, the 12600K here is probably the gaming CPU to have right now, it's just a fantastic all round chip

Yeah! It's a pleasure to meet another Juni0r :D.

Thank you for your honest answer, after seeing that I've decided to go with the 12600k!
I'll let you guys know as soon as I have bought the PC!

Received the PC yesterday and wow it amazed me, it looks better than expected and works as expected. Let's just hope it'll stay like that :D.

Guys I have 2 questions tho..

1. I downloaded a software called SignalRGB so I can sync the LED's of all my specs, as I have specs of different manufacturers that was the only software I found. (Fans from corsair; mainboard of Asus; keyboard & mouse of HyperX)
It works fine, but do you guys know if it is a good idea to have it? Is the software trustful?

2. I turned of my pc and the mainboard's LED's were still on, is that normal? And how can I programm it to turn off as soon as the PC is turned off?

Thanks for your help..!

Cheers
Juni0r

Where’s the pics???

1) I’ve no experience of Signal I’m afraid
2) Yes, this is default setting. Go into bios and change Aura to “stealth”

Or to copy @TonyCarter post from a few weeks ago:

In the UEFI BIOS, there's 4 settings for Aura. If you press [F4] on the home page you'll see something like:
  1. All on = All lights on the motherboard are on, i.e. RGB and the status/power lights.
  2. Stealth mode = All lights are off, all of the time.
  3. Aura only = only RGB lights are on, power/status lights are off.
  4. Aura off = RGB lights are off, power/status lights are on.
There's also a second set of settings, which control WHEN these Aura options trigger, under [Onboard Device Configuration] [RGB Lighting]:
  • When system is in working state
This item allows you to turn the RGB LED lighting on or off when the system is in the working state.
Configuration options: [All On] [Stealth] [Aura Only] [Aura Off]

  • When system is in sleep, hibernate or soft off states
This item allows you to turn the RGB LED lighting on or off when the system is in the sleep, hibernate or soft off states.
Configuration options: [All On] [Stealth] [Aura Only] [Aura Off]
