Hi,

This is my first build, so any feedback/advice would be amazing.

My budget is about £1,000 not including the graphics card (looking at a 3070/3070 TI) and it would mainly be used for gaming.

My monitor is:
27" ASUS VG27AQ Monitor, IPS, 2560x1440, 165Hz, 1ms, Adaptive Sync, HDR10, 1000:1, 350cd/m², HDMI/DP, G-SYNC Compatible.

Cut back on a couple of areas to get it down to £1k, but still comes out as a well balanced build.

For balance, this is the Intel equivalent. Slightly more expensive as the 12600k requires a decent motherboard and a better cooler compared to the 5700X.

Thank you for advice! Definitely a couple of places I could cut costs, like the case and cooler.

I have access to a windows 11 pro key through work which is a relief as I’ve heard of too many dodgy sites as well.

With the m.2 drives, I should’ve mentioned I have a 1TB 980 pro at home ready to go which I was going to use for games storage. I would mainly be playing Apex, Warzone, Fortnite & possibly some track mania as I have a PS5 for the more casual games.
So was hoping that the 250gb would’ve been enough for the OS and programmes, but would you still recommend switching to a 512GB.
The 2TB was indeed intended for general storage as you’ve suggested.

Great shout on the warranty, I hadn’t considered that one.

With regards to the graphics card it is a tossup between
- Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 AORUS MASTER V2 @ £649
- Palit Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Gaming Pro @ £659.

What would your advice be on this?

Thanks,
James

Yes, 512 would be a bare minimum for OS these days.

With regards to the graphics card it is a tossup between
- Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 AORUS MASTER V2 @ £649
- Palit Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Gaming Pro @ £659.
The Gigabyte cards are really good build quality, but price vs performance, the Palit is definitely the better buy. The TI only achieves a handful of frames over the 3070 at 1440p, but at those costs it's a clear winner.
