Any Advice on This Spec?

Hey, I’m fairly new to PC components etc, got some advice from Reddit but looking here to see if anyone would change anything.

im using the PC for gaming and video editing with Adobe premier pro, after effects etc

on the 1st M.2 drive I’m installing the operating system and on the 2nd one that’s for all my files, games etc Is this the right thing to do?

the total cost is £1524.

Looks like an excellent start to a build. The biggest thing I'd question is the graphics card: AMD graphics are significantly weaker in Premiere Pro/After Effects than Nvidia ones, even when they're on the same level in games. I'd have a look at the 3060 instead as it's great for video editing and 1080p gaming. What monitor are you going to be using?

I'd also personally not go for that cooler: there have been various reliability problems reported with the FrostFlow coolers, and they're neither as quiet nor as effective as better quality AIOs from the likes of Corsair or Cooler Master. There isn't really a strong candidate for cooling the 5600X right now (the Corsair ones are expensive and the 240mm Cooler Master one has vanished at least for now): I'd be inclined to do air cooling for the time being with the Hyper 212 with the knowledge that you can upgrade if it turns out to be a bottleneck. (It probably won't: I have done video editing on my 5600X on the standard AMD cooler and it was completely fine, though in the upper bounds of acceptable for temperatures. The Hyper 212 will be fine.)

In smaller things, I wouldn't worry about the special thermal paste: the standard stuff is again just fine for most circumstances. Finally, I'd remove Bullguard: it's only a trial version; it seems to cause problems sometimes; and Windows Defender is every bit as good while being free.

@sck451 has recommended the RTX 3060. The GB as you say doesn't really matter so much as the actual card reference which in this case the 3060. Although it has 12GB which is amazing for your uses

The 5800x is an extremely powerful CPU, it will require top end cooling as it runs really hot and would need a better motherboard. This will increase your costs a lot

Matching CPU and GPU doesn't matter. AMD make better CPU's than Intel currently, Nvidia make better GPU's than AMD currently

The 6600 XT is better than the 3060 in gaming, but worse in Premiere Pro. It's not a huge amount either way. It's really about which you think is more important.

And yes, prices have been fluctuating (mainly in a more expensive direction!) for the last year or so. Bad times to be buying a PC sadly!

The ASUS X570-TUF would be my recommendation for the motherboard with a Corsair H115i as the cooler. That's what I personally would want to pair with the 5800x

The 8g nvidia geforce RTX 3060 TI is out of stock.
The 12gb GeForce RTX 3060 (no ti) is available and cheaper but ideally I want the best suited one.
Is there any others you’d recommend that would work 😊

I’m going to stick with the AMD ryzen 5 5600x it bumps up the price a bit too much with the ryzen 7 and motherboard etc maybe something for the future.

What monitor do you have? It's not worth spending all that money if you don't actually have the capacity to display it! (There won't be a big step in Premiere Pro.) The 3060 (not the 3060 Ti) is available and, presuming you have a 1080p monitor, would be the ideal card for you.

That looks like a 1080p 75Hz. You won't get any benefit in gaming from the 3070Ti, as your monitor will be the bottleneck. There will be some performance difference in Premiere Pro (about 10% overall, bigger in some operation and smaller in others), but is that worth £300 to you?

When you say £300 difference do you mean between nvidia 3070 and AMD 6600?

I can’t find the 970 one?

On the 1st SSD I think pc specialist said they install the operating system on that automatically and the 2nd one will be for my games, video files etc
What would you recommend for the 2nd SSD? Also are m.2s worth it? I don’t use that much storage but I want to be safe instead of worrying about having to little storage

1st one for operating system. 2nd for main files

I'd switch them around: have a smaller primary drive (the 970 Evo or faster) for the operating system, and a slower but bigger secondary drive (the Intel 670p) for files/games. That's the optimal setup in terms of performance and cost.
