Any advice on £1500 PC build

I recently posted a forum about a £1000 PC build and received recommendations here, since then I’ve decided f*** it and pushed it too £1500. I’ve done a bit of research and stuck to some recommendations from a few weeks ago, and this is what I’ve came up with, the only thing here I might change is trying my luck for a 3070 on release date, but too be completely honest it’s not a must. I’m just looking for advice on any improvements here and I’m willing to push it over £1600 but no further than £1700. I currently have a 1080p MSI monitor and I understand this PC could do better, but I’ll be upgrading my monitor in a few months time. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Your choice of monitor upgrade will make a big difference, if a regular 1440p 144Hz monitor then a 3060 should be absolutely fine, 3070 is a bit of a luxury unless you are looking at larger monitors or 4K.
Its also very advisable to buy some proper cooling for the CPU, if it were the 3600/X/XT they would be be fine with the coolers they come with, when looking at higher spec CPUs you need something with a bit more power. I'd suggest something along the lines of the H100i Plat.

Little confused about the extra case fans, given the price point on the case, i would spend more money on a better case before trying to put extra fans in.
P.S - Drop the bullguard, waste of money and creates more problems than it solves. Also then has them harrassing you for months about renewing (even when you make complaints about it) Windows defender is also a very different beast to when it started, it will actually do a better job and its already built in.

I think the easiest changes to balance it all out and keep it in budget and also still doing everything you need it too, would be to change the CPU to the 3600XT, drop the extra fans, add arctic extreme thermal paste and then finish off by adding the silver warranty for a proper full years cover.

This would also mean theres another £40 in the budget if you want to get a better case.

thanks for the reply, ok what case would you recommend instead? I don’t care about looks or RGB I'm just interested in efficiency, I thought more fans the better lol. Would this support an upgrade to the GeForce 30 series later down the line? I’m assuming I’d want to upgrade to 4K at some point later and would prefer to have to update as little components as possible to do so.

Lain Li is an excellent case, and only £20 more, Corsair icue 465X is an excellent case but would bring you back to the budget cap as its £95ish.
The 275r Airflow isnt a -bad- case, But the point im making is spend extra money on better core parts, rather than throwing cheap fans in to try and patch parts so they perform better...

Like I said I’m willing to push it over £1600 and I should have previously explained Im fine with reaching the £1700 area if required but I need to cap my budget somewhere or I’ll just rip the utter p*** out of it 😂. So this is what I’ve changed/upgraded with some of your suggestions. (The CPU cooler you suggested isn’t currently in stock so I’ve used this one instead). Id prefer to keep a 8 core CPU as I’ve read it will perform much better with the titles up and coming with the release of next gen consoles.

Just to note, youve chosen the old H100, not the H100i Plat. You dont want the old model, it doesnt perform as well at all.
Youve also put thermal paste in, if you are taking a corsair cooler they come with pre-applied paste which is equal if not better quality, so no point paying the £9 for arctic extreme.
You've put the warranty as standard still, silver costs a £5 and means a whole years total cover, not just a month. A RMA will cost you £35 just to return it... That £5 to cover that and any parts too is well worth it.

I would opt for the 3800XT for the CPU, some extra power.

The new AMD CPUs are coming soon though so it may be worthwhile holding out. A 5800X paired with a 3070 would be a fantastic combination and very similar money to where you are just now.

Yes I might wait a while and see how the new releases are, I’m doubtful I’ll be able to get a 3070 any point soon and too be honest I’m not too bothered for 4K at the moment, it’s more an aim for the future.

If you stepped up to the 3800XT, wouldnt it advisable to up the motherboard to the Strix 570X?

Waiting is a good idea right now, with GPU's in the process of new models hitting shelves, and the CPU's right on its heels, its well worth remembering that the same money will likely get you a considerably better spec in a months time.

Ach it's fine. The strix is a luxuy. If you were hammering all cores and all threads for hours at a time with renders then maybe. For gaming, general use and medium level thread workloads the VRMs in the TUF are great. Everything should be optimum, it's only when bumping up the cores with the likes of the 3900X+ that you would maybe want to support higher VRM capacity for sustained power.
