Oh look, same error, different program!

It happens with EVERY program.

Though it was a good 6 minutes of gaming I must admit, I guess it must be a new feature with 'top end' gaming computers so that the user doesn't spend too long on it.
That's not exactly the same vlc.exe error, although it is an appcrash error.
these are usually caused by either a corrupt registry due to software, or a virus,
suggestions to a possible solution have already been posted.

Looking at that last error; and the fact that the pc bluescreens etc. then I would be tempted to reinstall the Nvidia GPU drivers as a first priority. This one stems possibly from something corrupted in the driver installation (or just a bad driver!) although it could be another 3rd party program causing this. It would certainly be the most likely piece of software to produce this error.

Always download the latest drivers from the Nvidia website, and not from the driver dvd you got with the machine. Spend a few minutes finding out how to do this; and the best way to do it from the Nvidia website. My advice would be to download new drivers, then uninstall all Nvidia display drivers from your pc; and then restart the pc in safe mode; and install the drivers you just downloaded. Once you have installed them; restart the pc again, and try and use a game/app etc.

Following the guidelines on the Nvidia website for updating drivers will work too; I just prefer a complete wipe of the old drivers to avoid any corruption/problems with the software that remains, although in theory all this should be overwritten with a new install. It is certainly worth trying this out. Then post back to see if this changes anything. Anything you are unsure of before doing this post back here; and ask. Mainly reading up on this will be your best bet and will help you prepare in the future for later driver installs.

Hey folks

The latest Nvidia driver update software allows you to select 'Custom' when asking what kind of installation you want to do; from there you can then select to do a full re-install, which wipes out all of the old driver stuff before installing the new one. In theory :)
