Another hot laptop ( 15" Optimus )

Its never been quiet but it seems to be noisy most of the time and it is hitting thermal throttling often. Should I take to a shop to get regreased and if so what would pcspecialists recommend, is it covered by warranty ? if I get someone to do it does it invalidate the warranty ?

That's much too hot, and I'd say probably out of character for the Optimus as I can't recall it being the most complained-about chassis temps-wise with the 7700HQ.

Starting with the warranty, did you get the standard 1 year one or opt for a 2 year extended one?

Have you opened the laptop up (taken the back cover off) to clean it? And carefully cleaned/dusted the heat sinks / exchangers and fans?

If it's the 2 year one, contact PCS and they may well be happy to RMA it and get it sorted for you without you needing to pay anything.

If it's out of warranty (or indeed even if it is in warranty but you prefer not to send it back) you could perform a repaste yourself. There are a lot of guides online and some users here may be happy suggesting some.

Sending the laptop to a third party repair shop could affect the warranty and/or, potentially, PCS's willingness to perform out of warranty repairs, if there is a fault down the line they feel was caused by another company botching the job. So you should at least explore other options before going down that route.

Thanks for the reply. I added an m2.NVMe after a couple of months and it looked ok. I ended up buying a laptop cooler pad in July of 2018.

Well it's out of parts warranty with PCS, but they do offer lifetime tech support and labour's obviously still covered.

I'd probably start with a clean and a repaste, DIY, and see how I got on. And check the obvious things like all the fans are actually spinning... the heatpipes seem to sit properly... etc
