An awkward build.

So, I have a budget of £1.5-2k. Awkwardly, I have a widescreen 1080p monitor atm (Samsung S24E650BW), but a 4k ready TV (Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4S 55'') - but I'm more than okay with playing at a lower than native resolution on my TV. Basically, I want to play the most recent games (Deathloop, for example) with no worries, sometimes on my chair, sometimes on the sofa. I don't feel a need to play them in Ultra settings, I just need them to run without lag.

Here's some of my other priorities:
I don't want a full tower. I want the smallest tower possible without being annoying to upgrade later.
I don't care for RGB, but if it's bundled with the best option, I won't avoid it.
I'd like it to be as quiet as possible, even when I'm playing games.

I'm also in Germany, so I will order it from the dedicated website. I just figured that I'd set up what I want in the UK website.

Thank you very much!

I'm a little confused by the pricing on here: your text suggests it's including VAT, but I think it's actually VAT exclusive. So I've gone for the same price point, hoping that's what you need!

I'm going to suggest less RAM, as 32GB is a fairly niche need, to upgrade the storage so you have faster primary storage and bigger bulk storage, get a stronger power supply for extra quietness and efficiency, and improve the cooling.

The graphics card is a tricky one. Neither of your displays is a gaming display: you have a 1080p 60Hz one and a 4K 60Hz one. Neither is ideal. The 3060 Ti will be fine for these purposes (though at 4K it may struggle a little for the higher settings). In the longer run, you might want to consider upgrading the desktop monitor to a 1440p 144Hz one. On these grounds, I think the 3060 Ti is the correct choice, even though it's not ideal in some ways!

Ok I've made a few adjustments to your build, I've upped the motherboard to the 570 as this has better heatsinks for the 5800x which is the hottest running of all the AMD chips, reduced the RAM to 16GB at 3200MHz, upped the power supply and cooler

Thanks to both of you, I feel very confident with the build now. I won't get it immediately, but is there a recommended 1440p 144hz monitor?

Depends on budget?
Good point, although I'm actually not sure! Especially since some 4k monitors are cheaper than 1440p ones, I guess I wanted to know if there was a specific recommendation people. I'd be interested in what the budget one is, but I suppose I'm looking to spend around 250, but if it's worth the money, 500 would be my top.

The only cheap 4k monitors are 60Hz which isn't really considered a gaming monitor. They tend to be the first models released on a new resolution, or aren't gaming monitors at all.

Budget one would be the Samsung G5 1440p 144Hz which is around £280 but that's a VA panel

For a full IPS, then the LG GP850 at around £400 https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gamin...V-HAYFcArzSnnIlK8MhoCQkcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Actually, now seems like a good time to buy, there seem to be a lot of very good offers at the moment, just from a brief look.

Also Black Friday is coming up which is another good time to buy.

It looks buying it from the german-dedicated website is significantly more expensive, it ends up being 2.2k, rather than 1.9k!
If I had to downgrade a few pieces from the build so it's a few hundred cheaper, what would you consider changing?

If you buy from the German website I believe the correct VAT is added. I am not sure that VAT is added if you buy from the UK website for delivery abroad and in this case you would need to pay the extra VAT upon entry to Germany.

That might be tax? I'd expect the German site to include VAT, but the UK site (when set to "Germany") does not.

Here's a version directly on the German forum, with a few things adjusted to save you money:
  • CPU down to six cores (which is genuinely fine)
  • Motherboard adjusted down as well
  • RAM to the RGB 3200MHz stuff, which is currently the cheapest "good" option
  • Cooler adjusted to something much cheaper
This takes €200ish off the price. It's tricky to go much below that, though you could probably save €80 by accepting reduced performance on storage and upgradability on power supply. If you have a Windows 10 PC that you are retiring (or could convert to run Linux or something) you could save €100 more by transferring the licence across...

(I think this has the wrong power cable selected; you will know better than I do!)
