@AccidentalDenz just a heads up, I actually found EE have stocks of the Gigabyte 9070XT

Its an unlocked GPU, with 3 x 8 pin and recommended 850w PSU, overclocked by 900 to 3060MHz

But the bonus being on EE is that you can actually pay it over 12 months interest free added to your mobile bill if you’re a customer

Its also a very reasonable price

I'm not an EE customer, and the Steel Legend is a better looking card, butttttt I can't argue with that price!

I guess I'm doing the thing then...

Yeah, Steel Legend I agree is nicer aesthetically, but the gigabyte (on paper at least) is a more powerful card (even if only slightly).

I'm pleased I went with the Steel Legend, it's the design I really wanted and I so often put wishes aside due to price or other factors, it's nice to have it matching my motherboard.

I'm now looking into RGB cables for the GPU supply and the 24 pin motherboard. Wanted to go with Lian Li Strimers, but they've replaced the cables variety now and only have the new Wireless options with which you don't have the option to plug into the mobo RGB header and so you're forced to use Lian Li's lighting software (which for me on Linux is a big fail).

So I've found Corsair now do some nice (but lesser) cable overlays, they're not the actual cables like the Lian Li's, simply a little overlay that lays on the top and attaches to the cable. They're quite a lot more expensive, but you get the added bonus of either being able to go into the Mobo RGB headers, or plugging directly into a Corsair controller which suits me perfectly.

May have secured an ASRock Steel Legend 9070XT, but not going to get my hopes up until it’s actually here. Supposed to arrive Wednesday.
DPD have my new GPU and will be delivering on Thursday. They need a PIN to deliver and nobody's going to be home until then, otherwise it'd be delivered probably tomorrow. A little annoying, but it gives me time to sort things out.

Mine has never failed to deliver...it's just that he tends to fail to get any PIN or signature or photo when he delivers whilst I'm out. Then I phone the depot and get told it's behind one of the bins...left out in the pouring rain!

Luckily only a single, non-expensive item has been ruined so far...so we now leave the outer porch door open and tell them so.

That kind of thing is so frustrating. Surely they must have the thought - Rain = wetness, wetness - cardboard = bad, wetness - electrical = super bad

Saw this, this has got to be a buggy VBIOS, the fact he’s increasing the core clock and it has absolutely no effect suggests there’s some kind of lock on the frequencies.

Would keep an eye out for updates to the VBIOS for any owners

From what I’m seeing so far, thermal pads connecting to the backplate to further dissipate heat only seems to have been adopted by a few partners.

From the few tear downs I’ve seen so far, Sapphire, ASRock and XFX seem to be adding thermal pads.

I did see very early reports of VRAM temps being 94c on some models which is quite high to say the least and they specified that model wasn’t using heat pads. Need to get a grasp on which manufacturers are doing that

So far the Sapphire Nitro + looks to be the card to beat ALL ASIDE from using the 12V2x6 connector which just seems insane to me when it’s almost half that cables potential power draw. But the actual design of it is really rock solid

I’ve seen quite a few of these posts cropping up over the last few days, so I do suspect Der8auers issues must have been due to a bug likely With that specific model

This is on an ASRock TaiChi, you can tell as it lists the default boost clock as 3100MHz, but this model is power unlocked at 340w

The ASRock I’m getting is a reference power design, so locked at 305w I believe so no way I’ll be able to get anywhere near that but I’m hoping I may be able to bridge the gap to the 5070ti

And heres a synopsis of 8Pack
