AMD Build. Any suggestions?

Going all in on this setup. Want it for a mix of uses that require a decent CPU but mostly for QHD resolution gaming (Metro Exodus on ultra settings for example).
Aesthetic suggestions would also be appreciated, trying to pair it with my green Razer peripherals.

One question I had was if I need extra fans. The RGB ones only came as 4 but apparently the case I chose can only fit 3 extra fans.
Wanted to keep the aesthetic by keeping all my fans RGB but it's not a big deal, performance takes priority. Do I even need any extra fans or is it unnecessary?

Your build would probably warrant the 2080 Super if you really don't want to upgrade in the next year or 2. If you were willing to purchase now and upgrade the GPU next year then the 2070 Super would have you covered quite nicely.

Intel is not a good choice. If you want it, that's absolutely fine but I would strongly advise against it. You are being dazzled by the Intel brand. It's like people buying Apple because they think their phones are actually decent due to the fantastic marketing.

Your budget allows for a FAR higher performing PC than you have currently selected but it's only possible to lead a horse to the watering hole.

Awesome build bud, just need a sugar daddy to buy me one now 🤣 🤣

Also worth noting (from a gamer who bought recently but a lower tech build) That the tech train keeps going forward so you will get components coming out next year that will wipe the floor in terms of cost / productivity, so if you have the budget it's best to either power up things like your graphics card and other components to delay the tech slip or be myself, where I'm happy to slide down the track gracefully fully accepting that my RTX 2070 super is going to be outclassed in the next year or two (as at least I've got a modern PC now that doesn't take ages to load and plays games acceptably at new games well, at present).

TL;DR going all in with a bang or going in but accepting the tech train has already left the station and don't stress, is the way to go :)

NB tech hasn't jumped *THAT* much in the last 10 years aside from some developments like SSD, faster slots etc, at least not compared to the 386/486 to Pentium days :)

I've rechecked the AMD options fully and it appears you are right. There would be practically no difference between them for gaming especially on a QHD monitor and the 3900X has far better multitasking capabilities so it's a far better option. I've done another build, AMD this time lol. I was wondering is the firecuda much better than the samsung 970 evo? I know it is Gen 4 and has higher speeds but do you think it's necessary and more importantly is it as reliable? Also do you think that wifi/bluetooth card is good? Since the motherboard doesn't have it I figured I may as well get it. Bluetooth connectivity is important as I'll be using a controller/bluetooth headphones occasionally and don't want trouble with them as I have had before with external USB connected bluetooth/wifi dongles. But if the options on PCS aren't the best then I can always install one after myself, I just have no idea which one to get as I haven't looked into that at all yet.

My suggested spec was better for less money. You literally haven't improved anything, you've lowered performance for the most part. The exception is the Wifi card which you want the AX200.

You should expect 8 to 10 years out of a system like this...not 4...

Upgrade the GPu every (roughly) 3 years to keep it on spec, upgrade the CPU about 4/5 years in, be prepared to upgrade the cooling too depending on what CPU/cooler you can use. You might find the WiFi card might do with an updated version etc etc... thats the whole point of puttin the motherboard in that is a 570.

Your mate seems to be as unaware as you, Asus is just a brand, its the same chip on it, you are largely just paying a brand tax.
Would wait till the 3000 are in use in a month ~(roughly) and contact PCS, find out exactly what ones they are using and then do some comparisions.

upgrade the CPU about 4/5 years in
You shouldn't need to do this, the platform should suffice for 7 - 10 years, no CPU upgrade needed in that time.

All my rigs are still on 4th Gen i7's and still handle everything I need them for (gaming, media transcoding, general use)

The 1000w PSU is still complete overkill, even considering future upgrades and GPU changes.
Not sure why you want 32GB RAM other than the fact you want it...
The 1TB M.2 should really be a Firecuda, they are better than the Samsung Evo

Scotts machine would still outperform yours. The RAM is meaningless for gaming once 16GB in all but a (Very) small handful of games
The M.2 would be quicker than your choice andthe PSU...well you're just throwing money at something you wont use, 850 would be more than enough, if not 750

This was just a suggestion of timings... seeing what CPU is the best you can put in about 5 years in (or possibly even longer as you say) can then extend the life of the machine before looking at a total rebuild

Ok, that all makes more sense then.

I saw in your build you went with the Ryzen 3900XT any reason? I intend to overclock both the CPU and GPU not for performance but simply so I know how to. Slightly booting it could be useful in the future but I don't intend to push either to the max.
The XT is just the latest version of the CPU, has slightly higher normal and boost clocks.

I heard the H115i Platinum was noisy and not as effective at cooling. Is that true?
No, not at all, this may have been related to the older H115i pro which had an inferior pump coldplate design as well as much cheaper fans.

What's the best option and will I need the better thermal paste with it?
You will absolutely want the H115i platinum as the very minimum on that processor to keep it within optimum boost capabilites, although if you're going to be overclocking that's slightly irrelevant as it won't overclock anywhere near as high as it will boost.

Ah yes sorry. I said it somewhere back there but this page got way more messy than I thought it would. Thanks that's really helpful! The reviews I saw must've been for the older one then. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again!
Not your fault, completely my fault for not reading the history properly! Sorry about that!

Forgot to add, the H115i Platinum (or any corsair AIO) comes pre applied with high quality paste and is probably better than the advanced paste, so leave the additional paste as normal.

Just so that you are aware. You are paying £120 to keep your mate happy with the brand. Regardless of how good a mate it is, to guarantee my return I would be expecting £100 from him right now.

What you are doing, in my mind, is just daft to be honest. Spending £120 extra for a brand on an already £500 card is just insane. You kept mentioning £200 difference for the card etc, if you forego the strix aspect of it you can get the 2080 for £80 more. Dump the 1000W PSU and you're down to a £40 difference. That's hugely significant when it comes to performance.

You're literally paying for your mates preference including all the depreciation of value that comes along with those brands and wants. SLI is a thing of the past, noone uses it anymore so for him to want to do it shows a bit of inexperience or misinformation on his part.

If you skipped your mates preference you could sell on the card to many others who wouldn't be so prudish.

Regardless, the system is a fine build. You could have 20% more performance for £40 more if you weren't pandering to your mate of questionable reasoning.

I've said my piece on it though. I get absolutely no benefit whatsoever in letting you know all this, I just have a feeling you're going to regret these decisions you are making. You may see them as well founded but they don't make any sense outwith your personal bubble.
