Advice/opinions on new gaming PC please

Hi,
Looking for a much improved gaming pc from my current PCS pre built 2070s/i7. My budget is around £3500 mark give or take a couple of hundred. Would be mainly used for DCS VR/MSFS VR and fps. I have an AOC 34" CU34G2X monitor ?3440 x 1440 144hz (not sure if my current system does it full justice?)
I've only picked the 5000T case as I thought it would be good for size/fitting of components and a 4gb hard drive as extra spare storage but not sure if these are both a bit unnecessary (4gb wasn't much more expensive than 2gb!) I've never built a PC before so any advice from the vast experience here would be greatly appreciated.

Think the current case is too small. It's an i7 9700 2070s 32gb ram, an older asus motherboard. Guessing I'd probably have to pretty much change most in order to cater for a 4090. Was going to give pc to my son and get a new one. Get the best I can/need before budget gets used for something else!

....PSU Corsair VS-550, 550 W.
upgraded to 32gb ram (max apparently) and added 2tb ssd card.

....currently using a quest 2 with virtual desktop but might upgrade to quest 3 if reviews are good enough. I'm also using (trying to use!🙄) a yaw2 pro 3dof motion sim chair if that is of help/has an impact on build?

Little more info on current spec -
Asus prime H310-Plus R2 mother board
2 x 16gb 3600mhz ddr4
Mostly play flight/racing sims in VR
PC VR games (half life Alex etc)
Other games played would be Squad,
Hell Let Loose, Pubg with monitor.
Budget - would like to keep below £3800 if possible

Yeah, I don't reckon it's worth upgrading that system. Sadly not very well specced for upgrades. But I'm sure your son will enjoy it.

First, a machine of this budget is not value for money. Anything over £2500 is questionable on that front. On the other hand, it will be awesome.

Second, you can save some money and not lose performance.

Third, your monitor will not get the best out of this system. MSFS in VR totally will, but your monitor is fine, but unremarkable, next to a system that's about as good as money can buy!

Thanks for your advice/suggestions, that's great thanks. Before i order can I clarify a couple of things please as my knowledge in this field is pretty basic.
The motherboard you suggested is that "futureproof" as in not like my current one! Will I be able to upgrade it if necessary in years to come?
Will 32gb ram be enough for dcs, sim rig and a sim shaker running at the same time? If so, would I still be able to upgrade to 64gb in future if it is necessary?

The motherboard will be fine. There could be an argument for going for the Tuf X670E board if you see a need for huge amounts of very fast connectivity (PCIe for storage or USB) or you want the maximum possible safeguard against future compatibility, but it probably makes no difference.

I don't know about your specific setup. You would need to ask someone who actually runs a similar setup and see their memory use. If you need 64GB you'll probably need to replace the existing memory. I wouldn't compromise and go for slower memory: you could order your own kit from elsewhere and go for a cheap kit that you're happy to sacrifice if you're sure you need that much

Have gone with all recommendations with exception of I've upgraded to Asus x670e motherboard. Wanted to be sure its futureproof. Managed to find a £30 promo code too so not a big increase.👌 Thanks for all the advice and suggestions it's really appreciated.
