Advice on Gaming PC specs

Hi all,
First time posting here and am looking for some guidance on the below specs for a PC.

The primary uses for it will be gaming, mainly RPG related (Assassin's Creed, Jedi Fallen Order, Mass Effect, mod-enriched Skyrim, Fallout etc.) I'm not a big FPS/CoD/Fortnite player so no real issues there, but with also some element of "domestic" hence the Microsoft suite, as well as standard internet browsing, but no serious creative artistic or media related things.

My current monitor is a Samsung S24D390HL 1920 x 1080, at a 60.000 Hz refresh rate and I'm not looking to change it any time soon.

My budget is looking around the £2000 at upper limit, which I'm close at already but think I may be overestimating my requirements unless it's good the way it is?

I've added two 2TB hard drives as my current external hard drive I'm using on my old system is 4TB and currently 1.95TB full, and reading about the need for breathing space, I thought it would be good to have more space to spread out my game files as well as giving me room to grow my gaming library.

Some of the ideas for parts I got from other threads on here, and I get lost with things like case type, I'm not fussed on RGB lighting on fans or internals so maybe a Corsair case? Any and all tweaks are welcome.

If you're not looking to upgrade your monitor, there's no point in spending £2000 on a system. The monitor will be a massive bottleneck. For 1080p 60Hz gaming, this system is massive overkill.

There are tweaks I'd make to make it make sense and be the best value at this budget, but really I think you need to do some more fundamental thinking about the system rather than tweaking this build.

Thanks for the advice, I suppose what I was looking more for was advice on a build at this stage to then develop as I go, with the development of monitor as and when things apply. What would you suggest in terms for the current monitor, or a bit above should I seek to upgrade that in future?

You can buy a really good 1440p monitor for something like £200 (the MSI MAG274QRF-QD E2 is the obvious standout to me). You can certainly get a build to match for £1800, so fitting inside your budget above.

If that sounds good to you I'd be happy to suggest something?

That sounds great, thanks for the monitor idea and I'd gladly take any suggestions for builds.

I'd go with something like the system below. NB that I have not included the same amount of storage as your original build to save money. But that is a really, really easy upgrade should you want more storage in future.

Case
FRACTAL FOCUS 2 ARGB GAMING CASE (BLACK) Really good case
Processor (CPU)

AMD Ryzen 7 9700X Eight Core CPU (3.8GHz-5.5GHz/40MB CACHE/AM5) Current gen CPU (not a huge uplift, but IMO worth having)
Motherboard

ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6)
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB)
Graphics Card
16GB GIGABYTE RADEON™ RX 7800 XT GAMING OC - 2 x HDMI, 2 x DP
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 4700MB/sW) Smaller boot drive
1st M.2 SSD Drive

2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) Games drive
Power Supply

CORSAIR 750W RMe SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET Sufficient for this tier of system, especially as the RMe version is really good
Power Cable

1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
PCS FrostFlow 200 Series High Performance CPU Cooler Enough for the 9700X, though more cooling would be the first thing I'd spend more on here
Thermal Paste

STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

ONBOARD 2.5Gbe LAN PORT
