Advice and opinions - is this good for gaming

Hello and thank you for reading!

The time has come to retire my gaming laptop and get myself a PC now that I have a bit more space.

I would be very grateful for some insight on this build. I have spent hours comparing the cards and boards and CPUs and right now I am going around in circles. I have tried to check performance and reviews and benchmark all the different versions but now I am not sure if I am overthinking it all.

I am by no means a pro gamer but I do like a wide variety of games. Right now I am being destroyed in PUBG. But I also enjoy open-world survival games like Ark, 7days, The Forest etc, etc. And then when I get time I can get stuck into an MMORPG as well against my better judgment. :D. A city builder or strategy game is nice, a bit of CIV, or if I really hate myself, some League of Legends. So it's not like I have a specific niche that I can optimise for.

I am also a tab hoarder and my poor browser absolutely hates me! Being able to dabble in Image AI would be a bonus but I can get around that.

My monitor is a Samsung Odyssey G7 1920 x 1080 32inch with a max refresh rate of 240 I believe. My budget is flexible, I want something that is good value for money and would really prefer to keep it below 3k.

I would be ever so grateful for a bit of advice or clarity on what I have here.

Thank you again in advance!

Helen

Hi Helen. Thanks for all the information. One point of clarity first if you can, please ... Can you check that information about your monitor? While there are 1080p Samsung monitors, and 240Hz Samsung G7 monitors, there's no overlap. Can you check precisely what you have?

Whoops! Sorry for the confusion, it was late and I must have had a moment.
The model specifically that I have is The Samsung Odyssey G7 C32G7xT. It is 240Hz, 1440p gaming monitor. Not 1080. 🤦‍♀️

Awesome, that makes a great deal more sense!

I'd be looking at a PC like this one. It's quite different because it uses an AMD CPU (the amazing 7800X3D) instead. I'd also go for a different case, which makes spending more money on fans unnecessary. This gives more room to go for a massively better graphics card, rather than the poor value 4060 Ti.

Case
CORSAIR iCUE 4000X RGB TEMPERED GLASS MID-TOWER ATX CASE - WHITE Much superior case
Processor (CPU)

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) The best gaming CPU

Graphics Card
12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 Ti - HDMI, DP, LHR A much, much superior graphics card

This looks amazing thank you! I am thrilled that the 4070ti comes in at the same price practically!

In the future I would like to get a second monitor, would I need to tweak anything to the build?

A second monitor will work just fine with that build. I think a 4070 Ti will normally have three DisplayPorts and one HDMI but it may vary by model. You should always use DP if you can.
