Adjust Brightness bar doesn't work

Had you installed GPU drivers? Did you make sure all the drivers and windows updates were installed before installing control center?

Control center is a management driver which means it relies on most drivers being configured correctly first of all before installing it.
Yes. Nvidia driver from clevo was installed first, then control center was installed. I also tried official driver from nvdia's website, got the same result.

Same here. I reinstalled windows. Let windows do the updates, then downloaded the nvidia driver from clevo, installed it, and finally downloaded control center from clevo too. Still not working.

I'm trying them out at the moment too. Funny that we had the same idea. But yeah, it's getting really frustrating. I've alread spent hours and hours on this little issue and don't know what to do now

Yeah, it seems that nothing is working. Maybe we have to send them back so that they can have a look at it at pcspecialist?

PCSPECIALIST don’t monitor the forums, you need to give them a call or web chat to diagnose further

from what i read in a chinese forum, screen brightness is adjustable in BIOS/UEFI interface with the hotkey. if it doesn't change in UEFI interface, it's likely to be a panel issue.

since it's weekend, i just tried ubuntu 20.04 as well. same problem as windows, the brightness slider was shown, but it doesn't do anything.

a bit more information i collected which might help with the debugging.

so AIDA64 tells that the Nova has a PANDA LM156LF1F02 screen https://www.panelook.com/LM156LF1F02_Panda_15.5_LCM_parameter_44308.html

first batch from a competitor had AUO B156HAN08.0 screen.

I'm just guessing here, maybe a BIOS or VBIOS update is needed to supported by the panel. I did find a newer BIOS online from https://clevo-computer.com/en/support-drivers/ but i decided not to try it, since it could potentially void the warranty.

okay, an expert told me that it's very likely to be a EDID mismatch issue, which happens quite often when you replace the panel with a different model. there are some DIY fixes available to it involves flashing either flashing EDID of the panel or flashing VBIOS or BIOS. since those fixes would void warranty, i will see what PCS say tomorrow.

just called PCS, very professional support personnel. here in germany they will just ask to repeat driver update / os reinstall even you told them it's already done.

anyhow, their technician will look into that and give a response later. we discussed about BIOS versions over the phone, the one i have 1.07.04 is the latest they got.

just post the 1.07.06 version here just in case the technician looking into thread want to test with it. but be aware it's from a different vendor.

I removed the link, partly because the PCS technicians almost never visit here so he/she is unlikely to see it (if the technician is reading this please PM @nova user directly) but also because there is a danger of someone less technically capable trying to install it and bricking their laptop and/or voiding their warranty. Thanks for understanding. :)
