I Checked with gpu-z and found my 5080 card is running at Pcie 5.0 x8

I have 2 m.2 drives installed on the motherboard. i thought that with just 2 m.2 drives the gpu would use the full pcie 5.0 x16 slot.
Could reslotting them elsewhere free up the gpu to use the x16
I'm not bothered as it is a great card for me but i was just curious.
I assume that any performance loss by sharing is negligible for gaming?

They've likely populated the wrong sockets.

If M2B_CPU or M2C_CPU are populated with an SSD, that will share bandwidth with the GPU and bring it down to x8

You want the 512 SolidGM in M2A_CPU and the secondary 4Tb MP600 in the M2D_SB port

That way everything will run at full speeds

Thanks for that. Putting the m.2 drives in the new slots won't affect the data in any way?

Haven't yet swapped the nvme drives.

I'm surprised whoever put the drives in didn't check the motherboards lane sharing specs first. And also my boot drive is in M2C_CPU slot instead of M2A_CPU slot so I have to put that in the top slot and also put my MP600 in the M2D_SB slot. I'm incredibly nervous about doing so because I have to remove the graphics card with it's anti sag bracket first. I'm scared I'll snap the graphics card or the board when taking it out.

Don't they have a latch to hold them to the board somewhere. On my old pc I had a hell of a job getting my gtx 1080 out as the latch was in a hard to reach place and I have fat fingers lol

If you can't reach with your fingers, use a wooden spoon handle or something.
