5080 or 7900xtx 240hz 4k gaming ? Need help

Hi any help is appreciated in this build.

Currently have pc I built 6 years ago and Xbox x.
Pc use only for non-FPS games - stellaris, warhammer total war, football manager etc. Use low/medium settings on the pc and feeling its age now. 60fps 4k monitor

Xbox I use for warzone, cod, siege on a tv which allows up to 120fps.

Looking to play everything on a pc going forward
And looking at a 4k 240hz oled monitor, have looked at dual monitors 240hz 4k and 1080p @ 480hz but think I will stick with 240hz 4k.

What I am aiming for is/questioning:

1)for my FPS games to max out near 240hz @4k, understand the below build will be more then good enough 1440p to max out 240hz. Could this build reach 4k 240hz on warzone etc on lower 4k settings?

2) single player games to run well with lower frame rate but higher settings ( is RT with it should I swap to 5080/wait for 9070xt?)

3) is this ram cl34 good enough ?

4) this should last at least 5/6 years

5) is 4k pc gaming worth it should I get 4k 240hz oled monitor or 1440p higher refresh rate oled monitor

6) cost under £4k, ideally under c£3.5k

7) happy to ‘downgrade’ parts if they make no real world difference to performance or longevity of the build.

Any help or suggestions on this build is appreciated

Few tweaks below. You're unlikely to be able to max out 240hz on at 4k no matter what you build, but I wouldn't be overly concerned with those numbers. Anything over 100hz is going to be brilliant.

As you're looking to spend quite heavily on the monitor I would consider a super ultrawide OLED panel. You'll get at least 144hz with most reaching 240hz. I would probably lock it in around 144hz though just so that you get more consistency. The peripheral landscape on a super ultrawide will be far more advantageous than vertical pixels will.

Below would be the "one"

Thank you for the input

So considering this - looking at the monitor would you say 4k is not important as I think this is then a 1440p monitor?

If I can’t get 240hz at 4k then I would at least like a very high refresh rate at 1440p for online FPS games and better resolution for/4k for single player AAA games

It's 5120 x 1440

1440p is 2560 x 1440

So it's 2 x 1440p

It's just under 4k but a far better aspect ratio

Don't get so hung up about Hz, it's not really any relevance over 120Hz.

Most of the games you will have been used to will have been capped at 30 or 60fps, you're going to take years to get used to even 144Hz, let alone be able to make any use of over that.

You can play that numbers game if you wish. The human eye can't see over 120hz and anything over that is to aid perception. Only the very elite get any improvement over 144hz with your typical in-house gamer having zero benefit over it other than wishful thinking. It's like snake oil, people play a numbers game but in reality and practice it makes no odds.

Pro gamers play 1080p with the lowest settings to get the quickest response times available.

You have to understand the realistic expectations of what the hardware can do. 1440p at 240hz is no mean feat, it's doable but you're going to have to seriously drop the settings to achieve it. IMO if you do that, you'll not get any performance benefit to your gaming prowess, you'll just think you are.

A pro would annihilate any enthusiast on a 60hz 720p panel no matter what they were gaming on, it doesn't make that much difference until the margins come into play with each other.

I'd really love to know where console players get these totally incorrect assumptions about refresh rate and fps, there must be some influencer they're all watching that's pushing the disinformation as they all seem to have the same expectations that has no relevance in pc gaming

You can bet your bottom dollar also, they're intent on still using controllers and have no understanding that will massively limit their response times, so would be even more handicapped by hz anyway.

And even then, if they were to transfer to keyboard and mouse it would take years for them to become responsive enough anyway to be able to be competitive in any way.

Okay was asking for advice not passive aggressive responses - thank you for your input even if it’s slightly passive aggressive lol even if you think you have some knowledge above what I have. Hope the way you responsed to genuine asks for help makes you feel special and important.

And talking about assumptions, says the person assuming I will use controller and saying I am ‘console player’ when I have stated I have both a console and pc.

Assumptions, can I assume you don’t know what the word means ?

So conclusion 120hz above is pointless as the human eye can’t see above that.

Any monitor above 120hz is pointless.

If human eye can’t see above 120hz what’s the point of 144hz for the very elite but if the human eye can’t see above 120hz that makes no sense.

There's no point actually, it's just marketing; it's like buying a race car capable of hitting speeds of more than 300 km/h when there are no roads to drive it on.

Here's how I'd spend your budget on a high-end Ultrawide/Superwide 1440p gaming PC (essentially the same as @Scott's with a few tweaks).

It depends on your requirements: if you want to make the most of NVIDIA technologies, go with the green team; if you want raster performance, go with the red team.

I can't say anything about the 9070XT. We need to wait and see.

Maybe I read it wrong 😑

And it wasn’t really saying that about @Scott, his advice was appropriate:)
@SpyderTracks comes straight to the point, sometimes harshly, but he does it for educational purposes and is always correct.

That’s where I am stuck now- if my initial spec was based on wrong info.

I presume Nvidia tech for RT will probably mean more now then native fps and raster performance.

Have seen the supposed specs 9070xt but you are right will wait till march to see what they are

Everything depends on your demands and the games you will play: if you play competitive FPS, RT will be almost useless; if you play single-player adventures/action RPGs (e.g., Indiana Jones, Cyberpunk, etc.), RT will greatly improve your experience, IMHO. :)

To add to the above, it also depends on how good your eyes are....you might not even notice any difference between RT on and off! Star Wars jedi Survvior, I turned RT off after it was continually causing the game to crash and the only difference I noticed was that it was not crashing any more...made no difference (to me at least) in any graphics. Forza Horizon 5 I turned it off just because I didn't see any point and, again, no difference at all. I will admit a game like Cyberpunk it probably makes a big difference due to the night-time and neon nature of the game

Thanks for the advice !

Cyberpunk is one of the games I would like to play, tried it on my current pc and luckily didn’t blow it up and refused to play it on my Xbox !

But RT from I can’t see it been value for money going to 5080 if few games (like cyberpunk) are really impacted

Leaning now heavily towards 7900 xtx - don’t think the 9070 xt will perform better then the 7900xtx from rumoured specs.

Thinking seriously now 7900 xtx and then upgrade to a 5080 super in 12 months if price/performance is better then what 50 series is!
