I'm fully expecting a noisy laptop to be honest. I wouldn't expect it to wind up fully until temps are getting pretty high. However, I'm hoping that I'll be able to create my own fan profiles so that during everyday use it's fairly silent.

I've not found a way to that so far. Just had a series of crashes at bootup and my cpu clocked down to 28 across the cores not impressed. It is a noisy little bugger, this time however unlike my p750zm the overclock fan profile works I've not tried the custom settings yet. Full fans sound like the end is nigh but for this machine you'd expect it. Asked my wife earlier if fan noise was bothering she said she'd not even noticed probably saved this laptop from being sent back. Going to re-paste tomorrow as I'm not happy with temps and I'd like a look at how the heatsink is against the chips hopefully not warped

I'll be going to town once I get mine so it will be good to compare results :)

Meanwhile 32 calendar days after ordering, my (4K-equipped) Octane III is still in pre-production - no reply to my email from this morning chasing it either. (The configurator didn't mention any delays when I placed my order back in August, but was changed a few days later to say "12th September" for the chassis. That was then changed to "19th September", but as of Monday it said everything's in stock.

It's now on the 23rd working day. At this rate it's going to catch up to my last laptop from PCS which took 31 working days!

Probably not what you want to hear, given that your concern regards the delay you've already experience, but:

If you email us we will try to respond within 24 - 48 hours and in busy periods as soon as possible.

So it may be a few days before they can reply, if this is a busy period (which I assume it is with the return to school/uni, the new tech that's come out, and the clearly quite lengthy build time there).

You need to call them, there's no point emailing, or use webchat.

The configurator is not connected to stock control so there is no way for it to tell you of delays. Where PCS know that a component is on long back order they will remove it as a configuration option to avoid this problem. AFAIK pre-production is the first point at which the parts are picked for an order, so it's the first point at which out of stck issues are found. I had a similar issue with the PC that PCS have just built for me.

It rather looks as though Clevo are having supply problems with the chassis, I would imagine that PCS are giving you the same updated information that Clevo are giving them. I fully appreciate that it woud be nice to have regular updates on what's going on, but when PCS don't know themselves there's not much they can usefully tell you.

I agree with the others that a call to PCS will get you much more detailed information, and faster, than email or chat.

It turns out the screens aren't in stock yet.

PCS are now hoping they'll arrive in the next week.

My last reply was "We are expecting delivery of the Screen next week. This is an ETA, as we have no confirmed date yet". This was on Friday last week (although I didn't get the message until yesterday!)

Basically, I think no-one has a clue; the lack of communication is terrible (the only way I've found out things have been delayed is by going through the configurator again).

I'm now into my sixth week, and have reluctantly decided to cancel (which isn't easy in itself!). I really want a 4K screen, so I'm not going to 'downgrade' to 1080 just to get a PC, but I'm not prepared to wait an indefinite amount of time after spending money!

That's great!
I wonder when they will be available in the configurator for Defiance III 15,6".

EDIT: Live Chat informed me that they have not received the 15" 4k screens, but they should get them next week.

Yes, I was given an ETA of the 4th when I went to cancel, so figure I'd wait one last week...woke up this morning to a mail to say it had been built. Awesome! So pleased!

Sorry guys I'm a bit confused. Are only 15" screens in stock? It's just my order still says it's missing and I'm just getting the generic reply of "hoping to get them next week" on the live chat.

At least in the configurator it is possible to choose 4K 17,3" screen for octane III and it is not saying that it is out of stock when proceeded to quote.
Like I said in my previous message, the 4K 15,6" panels are supposed to come next week according to the Live Chat...

That's been the case for the last week (well, since the 20th), but they only arrived in stock a couple of days ago. Apparently there were 150 ordered, so I don't know how long it'll be before the next batch arrives!

No info on the 15" panels as it was a 17" laptop that I'd ordered.

...and it's here! A full review to come over the weekend, but in the end it just pipped the Defiance I ordered a couple of years ago in terms of time taken (30 working days versus 31 working days last time).
