4k gaming spec, looking for advice

Hi,

I'm looking to put together a gaming PC capable of good 4k performance, running a single ASUS 28" 4k 60Hz monitor, potentially also to support VR later, and am considering the below. I'd welcome any advice you guys might have, working to a budget of around £3,000.

I'd probably up the ram to 32gb for high end ryzen gear but I'll let the pros give their advice!!!

I was on the fence about 16 or 32, also wondered whether it was worth going for the 3950 CPU, but again, I'm not too sure

If this PC is just for purely 4K Gaming,

16gb of RAM is more than enough,

I'm not sure that you'll see any benefits of a Ryzen 9 over a Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 7 3700X / 3800x for 4K Gaming performance,

Your 4K 60hz monitor is ok, However, a 4K 144hz monitor is more ideal,
I myself game on a 4K 60hz Asus monitor for the moment, but i'm looking to upgrade to a 4K 144hz monitor and this is the ideal monitor that i myself and many other are waiting for...

Thanks! I appreciate all the advice, and the spec

The monitor I have is still fairly new, so I wasn't planning on changing it quite this soon, but I'll be sure to keep your advice in mind next time I change it.

Spec posted by @robin h 25 above is what I would have recommended, although I would select the 3800X over the 3700X now. This is more so with the VR in mind though, for your current monitor the 2080 Super would probably be enough to cope with it.

You can't beat the 2080 Ti though so if the budget is there and you have VR on your mind at a good level then I would suggest that's as good as it gets.

The STRIX motherboard MAY be worth considering, but that's a luxury choice.

A few tweaks. Note that the H115i RGB is only £10 more and is a better cooler. Fits in the Fractal case perfectly (I've got the R6)
