4 beeps in quick succession then computer turns on.

My computer turns on but makes 4 beeps When I press the power button, so press power button a short pause then 4 beeps.
Why is this happening and how to fix it.

Is it 1 short beep and 3 long beeps? If so a lot of the time it is a VGA Monitor message. These can sometimes be red herrings, i.e. nothing is wrong but it is saying it can't detect a connection.

If you turn your monitor on and then turn the PC on do the beeps still occur? Sometimes this can resolve it if it is a simple VGA error.

Its one long beep and 3 short beeps, apparently something to do with the graphics card. Took it out made sure its in properly still making the beeps.

make sure the memory is properly seated, by taking it out and putting it in again, making sure it clicks in properly

It is worth trying what @paul1224 suggested though, if the monitor isn't turned on before starting the PC try it, it could just be that it isn't finding the monitor and complaining about it, but it is still starting

The cable i use is the display port and my monitor is a Asus VG278Q 27inch

I have two new systems, and the same thing happens on both if you dont turn on your monitor before powering up. It must be a (relatively) new thing on Asus motherboards?

I must admit I nearly soiled myself the first time it happened...

Obviously there must me a better way of informing you you have no monitor connected. Perhaps they can give you a blue screen of death if you forget to turn on your speakers? Or perhaps a display could pop up in big red letters counting down to zero with the words "detonation imminent" flashing on the screen if your mouse battery is about to go?
