Don’t worry about it, my girlfriend is French... and every day is a living nightmare. I am, of course, joking. She is my world 👍

As stated, buy whatever you wish! We will never judge anyone for purchasing something that makes them happy... It’s just not always a fruitful move to bring it to debate on a platform like a forum where people with serious technical knowledge will be able to tell you why it isn’t the wisest move.

You’ve made your purchase, we’ve had a discussion and you’ve chosen to leave it at that, I think that’s a really good move. I hate arguing with people so am happy to also leave it. If you need technical support with your new system at any point, please let us know 🙂👍
This discussion stays in my head and decided to go for a Samsung G5 when I will receive the GPU 😅

Only for those with eyesight that can see the difference over 120Hz.

99% of humans can't.

I'm not talking to @Peeqa with what I say below, just generally.

The problem is there's an awful lot of disinformation on places like youtube where influencers who have no idea about tech make you believe that it's necessary to get 240Hz for everyone, it's just not the case.

You may THINK that it's making you better but in reality, you'd perform exactly the same at 144Hz.
Really nice french Youtuber made a VR headset with 10 - 24 - 60 - 120 - 144 Hz and there is still a different "feel" between 120 and 144 and even higher. Human eyes have never been matched by computer screen.

That’s completely different and related to motion sickness which is only experienced in VR. It’s not applicable to a monitor.

In VR anything under about 90fps causes motion sickness.

You absolutely can get get motion sickness from a monitor, usually it has to do with field of view rather than FPS though. I would get mild motion sickness in games that use 60 or less FOV in first person it's fairly common.

Oh, wasn’t aware of that, I’ve only ever used a min of 100% FOV

Was a real issue in the 360 PS3 era when a lot of console ports had locked FOV. They use a super tight FOV to help increase frame rates which isn't so much of a problem when you sat halfway across the room and playing on a 50" TV but when you're up close and using a 24" monitor it would really mess with me

Ah, consoles suck ;) I don’t think that’s ever been an issue on PC.

I think POV is quite a personal thing, some people are more sensitive than others.
I used to watch a lot of TotalBiscuit on YT and he did a first impressions series. A lot of games ported over from console, particularly in the 2012-2016 era when I was watching his content, had locked POV as a result of their console past and sometimes it was very small (<60) and he reported getting motion sickness on occasion. Part of that was having review copies and a lot of games patched in adjustable POV sliders after release, and he also reviewed some pretty awful games where that feature was sorely lacking. Certainly in recent titles adjustable POV is thankfully now an industry standard.

I honestly think he had a big part to play in FOV sliders being industry standard now, especially in ports. He was the biggest gaming voice on Youtube so he had quite a bit of clout to throw around that time and I'm glad he went to bat for such a small thing but it's help me loads personally

This is definitely something I need to read more about. I didn’t use consoles past the PS2 and kind of skirted any console ports so was completely oblivious to this.

One of the first adjustments I make in a game is set the FOV to max.

I knew consoles were more restrictive but just assumed 100% would be the minimum restriction on any platform.

Off the top of my head and it's been a few years Modern Warfare 2 had an FOV of 65 which I had a lot of issues with particularly headaches.

But they are some worse again I think I played Killzone on the PS3 and it had like 55FOV and that was torturous, I think I played about 10minutes of that game and noped out.

90 Seems to be the sweet spot for me, currently using 110 on my new set up which hasn't caused any issues thankfully but I couldn't use anything less than 80 comfortably
