1st PC build, future proof gaming + vr build. Please give advice.

Been saving up for a new pc for a while now, want something that will be able to handle upcoming games like star citizen and also any more demanding VR games, such as Fallout 4 VR heavily modded. Any advice is appreciated .

Mods can really add to the demands of FO4 non-VR, so I can only imagine what they'd do to FO4 VR if you're not careful about optimising your ini files and making sure your mods play nice together (even content mods can inadvertently change the landscape in a way that causes huge FPS drops). Given the higher res and refresh rate of VR I can see that taxing a 1080 quite hard.

It may be worth holding off until Sept/Oct for the new Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs.

That's a good point, I suppose the fact that it is vr means I won't be modding it quite as much as my current save, so hopefully that will not be a problem.
I had thought about waiting for the new announcements, but I'm pretty sure anything released in the near future is going to be well outside my price range. So wouldn't it be better off to stick with the current gen for now and go a bit easier on the vr side of modding?

That's not quite how it works. The new gen will offer better performance at the same price points as the current gen. e.g. a GTX 970 versus the GTX 780 ti, the GTX 1070 vs GTX 980 ti. Better and (at least a bit) cheaper. Otherwise nobody would be able to afford them

Also the prices of current gen GPUs are expected to drop.

If you're spending near to £2k on a PC and will be using it for demanding gaming, I'd probably suggest holding fire.

Of course with tech there is always new stuff coming out, but here new GPUs and CPUs are expected literally right around the corner.
