1st Gaming/Streaming/Vid Edit Build

Hey folks was looking for some input/opinions on the following build below for streaming/gaming/video editing will be the main activities with this build. Have budget of roughly 2500 to 2600 EUR (but within reason can be bumped up to 2700). This is my First build (base config was the “creator pro”) so would like to start strong and hit the ground running but wondering is there anything I could do to possibly reduce costs but get more bang for my buck? As for peripherals such as monitors still looking into this but recommendations would be appreciated for best quality/cost effective options. Would also like to ensure build would be upgradable in the future.

Games that will likely be played:
Apex legends
Overwatch
Valorant

Paired with a 1440p monitor like a samsung g5 or a LG 27GL850-B

Onboard sound has come a long way no need for a dedicated soundcard the sonar program on those soundcards are gimmiky and terrible in games like valorant

850w psu allows for future upgrades like a new gpu

Hey folks,

Looking for some opinions/suggestions on this build. Originally posted my first one a while back but decided to take a step back and get a bit more information in regards to pc building by seeing what tips and suggestions & tips were being made on the forums in regards to streaming and gaming builds.

**Please note** Due to PCS awaiting stock of GPU’s I had to copy/paste the template below so haven’t a link to re-configure. Nothing has been purchased yet either, waiting to get an idea as to how to improve this build prior to purchasing anything.

On a side note this would be my first gaming/streaming build so was thinking while I don’t need the best of the best I would like to “Hit the ground running” with this build so any suggestions for a more cost effective yet “bang for you buck” build while also having room to upgrade in the future would be appreciated. With this I was kinda aiming for a steady 1080p while gaming/streaming not looking for 4k or anything. Also not looking to play biggest titles but I do enjoy more the Occasional competitive shooter like Apex/Valorant/etc looking towards more indie based titles that may be less graphically intensive.

Referring to a guide for the “Check this spec” forum see below:
  • 1) Your budget - €3000 max. but would like to lean towards between €2500 - €2700
  • 2) What's the PC / Laptop for? - (gaming, streaming, video editing and general personal use)
  • 3) What monitor will you be using - See underneath build marked with **
My thoughts on what could be changed:
1. GPU - could go for 3060 or 3060ti was thinking 3070 may be a bit much.
2. Ram - was originally planning on 3600mhz but was thinking maybe I could get away with 3200 or 3000 and get more Ram later.
3.Case - could go for the PCS PRISM TG BLACK ARGB MID TOWER CASE as a less expensive option
4.OS: Was thinking of going for the Windows 10 and upgrade later not sure if it’s still early days for windows 11.Just fearful of encountering problems later down the line.
5. Monitor - Never heard of iiyama before but any suggestion for this would be appreciated. May go for 2 Monitor setup at a later stage.
Motherboard - was possibly thinking the 570 motherboard but decided to go 550 would the 570 be better for “future proofing”?

That build is a waste with that monitor. You are well into 1440p gaming there. Get the 3060ti and spend the saving on a 1440p 144hz monitor.
Thanks for the Note ThoRob, would you have any recommendations on monitors? would you suggest using any of the stock PCS currently offers or look elsewhere?

I'm not sure what the Irish monitor market is like! But it looks to me like you can get an LG 27GN800-B for €359 or and ASUS VG27AQ1A also for €359: the latter looks like an amazing price for that display. If you needed to bring down the cost of the build to compensate for the more expensive display, you could lop off around £150 without an enormous impact on performance, by dropping the RGB RAM, going for slower SSDs, a less extravagent power supply and a lesser cooler. If you can manage the "stretch" build I posted above, I'd do it, but a cheaper system is possible...

Thanks for the response on this was actually tinkering with a 12700k build on the side too when the 12th gen intel range was released just wasn’t sure what to go for. Also many thanks for your suggestions on the monitors and suggestions on where to save a bit of cash.Gonna have a look at that build you mentioned above and see what I come up with and who knows could allow for a bit of a bigger budget.

I was thinking of possibly going for the 150i pro XT cooler But would there be much of a difference versus the 115i? I could “nudge“ the budget here and there. Also I was contemplating getting a wireless network card in case of running into issues with the LAN port later in its life. Would you bother with it or would most people leave it out without a wireless card?

Hey folks been deliberating builds for past while thinking of going with the following build for my first gaming and possible streaming rig, kinda happy with this but just wondering does anyone have a second opinion prior to purchase?, just wanted to see what opinions/tips were on this build For gaming mainly and possible bit of video editing and streaming. Budget was originally going towards €2700 but said I’ll splurge a small bit and aim a bit higher Max €3000. Landed on €2850 and feeling like this is pretty good for me regarding price as it literally lands bang in the middle of my previous and current Max budget.

From a previous build post I noted:

“With the build I was kinda aiming for a steady 1080p while gaming/streaming not looking for 4k or anything. Also not looking to play biggest titles but I do enjoy more the Occasional competitive shooter like Apex/Valorant/etc looking towards more indie based titles that may be less graphically intensive.” So hoping I can hit the ground running but get good ”bang for my buck” with this

With regards to monitors, It was noted in a reply to my previous build post If I was going for the 3060ti I’d be leaning towards 1440p just needed a 144hz Monitor for it so just probly gonna go with a monitor suggested from a previous post. **See below build details**

PS: got silver warranty to round price to €2850, and removed the wireless network card as the motherboard has integrated Wi-Fi ( silly question but this shouldn‘t effect connections both wired and wireless if I don’t include it , Yes/No?)

Likely will pair with a ASUS VG27AQ1A and possibly may get dual setup if I can find any could deals anywhere. That monitor was suggested in a previous post on another build and seems pretty good . Any suggestions on possible alternatives or equiveplant monitors would be appreciated. Hoping to throw in order at the end of the month But any suggestion/tips will be taken on board. Many thanks and happy posting 👍

I have a sneaking suspicion you're going to be upgrading this rig so I wouldn't limit yourself with the 4000D case. It's a great case, but GPU length can be tricky now and I don't see them getting smaller in the next generation.

I tweaked the storage a tiny bit too, and went for the faster RAM as 32GB will see out the life of the system so you're as well getting the fastest you can for the little difference it makes to the cost.

Above is a fantastic rig and it will knock your uses out of the park. The VG27AQ1A would be my choice, along with a similar looking 1080p cheaper alternative for a second monitor (for streaming controls etc).

The only other thing I would put forward to consider, is if you wanted more RGB/looks. The 5000X would be the go-to in this department as it has every base covered. If not, and you're happy with the more stealth outer look, then the 5000D is fine. If you don't want any RGB at all you could save some money with the non-RGB RAM.

Godlike
This is a pretty solid system!

If you're going with the H150i you might consider the 5000D case which is a slightly larger version of the 4000D. This allows the cooler's radiator to be mounted on the roof of the case rather than the front, which will offer slightly better temps and also have a little more room for things like a GPU upgrade down the line, as you'll be able to accomodate a longer GPU without the radiator being partially in the way. Seeing as you've picked RGB RAM you could also consider the Capellix over the RGB PRO XT, as this comes with RGB fans for a minor upgrade cost. You could also consider the 5000X which is very similar to the 5000D but has a slightly different front panel and lots more RGB.
There'll be no issues without having a wireless card as the motherboard has one baked in; you will want to use ethernet if possible but you won't have any problems using Wifi with the build.

The Asus VG27AQ1A is a solid pick, other options are the Gigabyte M27Q and Dell S2721DGF. They are all solid picks and it really comes down to what's priced best in Ireland.

As I've been writing this @Scott has put some solid suggestions in. Fully agree with the changes he has made. :)

Your powers of deduction are on point Scott you’d be right in saying that about upgrading just reading through your recommendation and really appreciate the feedback 👍.Was wondering though on the 2nd M.2 Intel vs the Samsung Evo SSD is intel the better option here for a more cost effective way or is it better overall in performance and other areas? Also I do agree will bump that case as suggested.

MrWilson much appreciated for your input too didn’t even think of the 5000x and thinking as you put it with the bit of RGB that case would be pretty slick along with the Callipex cooler. Since it’s my first rig may “treat myself” in this case and liking the idea of the Black case with splash of colour was just trying to visualise it was main thing bugging me with this rig. Just having a look at Scott’s suggestion with the points you made and will likely mix in that extra bit of colour. Again many thanks for your response 👍

Ok so just for completeness, I've reconfigured below so that you can see everything together. This would be about as good as it gets for looks. You could add an rear fan (as an intake I would add) in the future if you wanted, but it'll be perfect as is IMO.

Literally the only stone left unturned is the second storage. You asked about the M2 vs Samsung etc. SSDs, conventional ones, are nowhere near as performance orientated as M2 drives. Even the most basic M2 drives are more than twice as fast as any SSD. The Intel offering I've selected is the best value for money, absolutely no doubt. If you really wanted to push the boat out then the Firecuda 530 would be the one to go for. Unfortunately, with great performance comes great cost and it would bump the build up by a further 148 euros. Whether that's worth it to you or not is completely subjective. The Intel is blisteringly fast already compared to lesser drives, but with direct storage coming into play in gaming very soon, it's up to you how cutting edge you want to be.

The best part of this entire build is that it's fully ready for the next generation of GPU. So if you feel you want to drop in some more power down the line, with a monitor upgrade in tow, then it's literally plug and play :D
