16 month old system - dead GPU!

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't a branded GPU (which has never been overclocked and tbh, barely used for gaming the last 6 months) last LONGER than 16 months before dying?

My last PC my Nvidia 760s lasted a full 7 years yet an AMD card dies in less than 18 months?! surely that can't be the case.....

It's impossible to guarantee any electrical product, that's why you have warranties. Most problem components fail within 6 months but it's just as possible it will happen later on, it's just impossible to know.

But it's still under warranty so there's no issue (if this is a PC specialist system?

It can happen, it really depends on what caused it to fail which can be any number of things. I've had cards die in 6 months and cards that have lasted over 10 years. In fact I've a 6950 that's been overclocked pretty much it's entire lifespan currently running fine in another machine

Turned it off last night at give or take midnight - turned machine on this morning. No display. Not doing post and having 1 long beep and 3 short ones. (Mobo - ASUS® ROG STRIX X570-F, GPU - XFX RADEON™ RX 5700 XT)

Mobo manual states a GPU error or GPU not installed from the number/length of beeps. I've removed the card, reseated it, same issue. I don't have another GPU lying about to test it either.

Fans spinning on GPU, LEDs on the GPU show it's getting power but far as the motherboard says, it's dead.

My last cards (I had 2 760s running in SLI) ran for 7 years almost constantly on while being slightly OC'd. Not at all impressed as I need my PC for work :-/

Again, this has no relevance to anything I'm afraid, it's possible to guarantee an electrical product.

You just need to RMA the GPU.

Knew I should have built it myself. I was feeling lazy and thought "sod it I'll buy from pc specialist since I can't be bothered to have boxes everywhere again"

How can I RMA the GPU to PC specialist? Any help would be appreciated :-D

Wouldn't have made any difference if you'd self built or not, you'd still have to RMA, just rather than a next day turnaround with PCS it would be a few weeks with the manufacturer.

You can create an RMA in your online account in the my returns section

Sorry, but I don't see how sourcing/building the PC yourself would have guaranteed that the GPU would still not have failed in 16 months (or less)!

Go to your main account, click on my returns, return a component

Well off down to the officer to pick up a spare GPU so I can at least get the PC up and running (and prove it's the GPU at the same time). Just awaiting approval on RMA now.....

Picked up an old amd radeon hd6770. Popped it in and works fine. Bit of fun with bios not liking a 10 year old card but meh it's working and I cam access data. Just hope they willing to do an rma on the dead one

Nah its never been overclocked. No point in OC a gpu I find. Risk doing serious damage for the sake of maybe a few extra fps. Nah. Keep it stock!

My RTX 3080ti died in 11 days. I'd of loved 16 months with it. 🤣

Its under warranty so should be an easy replacement. Get intouch with them and they'll sort it as qyick as they can.

3080 dies in less than 2 weeks? I'd have cried! I put the RMA in so just waiting on it to be approved. At least I got an old HD6770 to pop in so I can at least access my data now but cheesed off I can't play Godfall. Took me 2 days to download it :-(
