Awesome monitor!

For VM’s the 3800x is amazing giving you 16 virtual cores, assign 2 to each VM and maybe leave 6 for the host, allows you to run 5 vm’s concurrently!

Agree with all the updates by @Nursemorph too.

It’s a sweet rig :)

Thanks all for the input! The issue i have had in the past is succumbing to analysis paralysis when it comes to researching new components - and so dont even move forward on it lol

I research things to death, literally takes me years to make my mind up on big purchases.

I've been researching a new valve amp and speakers for 6 months, think I've now fully decided on what to get!

Are you sure you've fully decided?? I mean, you really don't want to be too hasty ;)
I remember seeing a stack of Wharfdale speakers in Tottenham Court Road back in the 70's with an advertising sign that said "These speakers are so sensitive that in the 1812 Overture you can hear them strike the matches".

I think I might go and buy them.....

I’m a sucker for good audio stuff, just absolutely love music sounding really really good!

While I'm not really an audiophile, and while it's not on the same level as Wharfdale etc, I have had my Technics system for nearly 20 years now and I still love the audio on it as the day I first got it...I even got rid of my PC surround sound speaker system to plug in my Technics instead
Technics do really good stuff, not to be discounted.

The 3800X clocks between 100 - 150 MHz higher than the 3700X, which amounts to a 2.5 - 4% frequency increase. This increased CPU power consumption by around 12%, which meant it ran a few degrees hotter, potentially making it a bit louder.

For this minor performance increase AMD has increased the MSRP by 21%, from $330 to $400, so the biggest percentage increase, if we ignore the TDP, comes from the price. And we believe that’s all you need to hear, you’ll get 3% more performance at best, by spending 21% more of your money.
Buying advise in short: we highly recommend avoiding the 3800X and instead grab the 3700X. If you find it necessary, upgrade the box cooler with the money saved. The Ryzen 5 3600 remains king of value bar none, and the 3900X offers more cores for productivity,
