Hi,

Has the BIOS updates and microcode patches, which limit voltage levels to prevent instability in Raptor Lake processors been effective? I'm just curious.

As it is a time-based fault there is no way to know until many months have gone by. If you are interested in buying a PC then buy the much superior AMD offerings and forget about Intel.

Hi Stegor,

Thanks for your reply. I prefer gaming laptops. The AMD chip is only used in two... the IONICO machines. I noticed one the gaming laptops uses a 13th- Generation intel processor. I presume they'd do all the necessary updates to protect it, before shipping?

I'll probably wait for a 15th- Gen one now. :)

That's because all the good chassis sold out a long time ago. The new chassis are announced at CES in January, the AMD ones are extremely popular and will have sold out in the main by May or so.

Now is not the right time to buy a custom chassis as it's right at the end of the product cycle, yet they're still full price.

There are no microcode updates for mobile CPU's, even though the 14900HX and 14900H are exactly the same CPU as the 14900/k/ks, Intel have refused to acknowledge there's any issue with them so no microcode update has been issued on mobile cpu's.
