Afternoon all!
Firstly, yes I know that is a lot of money to spend on a rig but my current PC is over 10years old and apart from an upgraded PSU, it is quickly becoming a slow running one not fit at all for gaming (RIP i5-2500K). I am not fussed at all about RGB as I want my computer to run smoothly and not look like the Blackpool illuminations!
Purpose of this build?
Future-proof massively and a build decent enough for 60fps 4K gaming on the likes of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (once all the addons become available too), Train Simulator and so on. I have saved up enough over the years to 'splash' out and want to not worry about upgrading bits and bobs over the next few years.
Current monitor in use is a Samsung 28' 4K UHD U28E590DS https://www.samsung.com/uk/monitors/uhd-ue590/LU28E590DSEN/

*1 Would DDR4-3200 RAM be sufficient? I was looking at maybe getting 3600 or 4000mhz but these are not selectable speeds on the lists or is the price difference not worth it.
*2 Ah the big GPU debate. Still waiting on true 3090 benchmark figures but the 3080 does look impressive instead. 3090 would be ideal for true futureproofing otherwise what would people recommend on the 3080? The ASUS TUF looks good.
*3 Storage time! The purpose of this SSD is to store most other files and including some games.
*4 Storage time again! This M.2 card will have the OS and I was wondering if it would be beneficial putting Microsoft Flight Simulator on it? Or will it be better on the SSD.
*5 850W PSU seems adequate right? This unfortunately is out-of-stock for now. Would 1000W be overkill?
*6 I much prefer fan cooling over watercooling. I just think of the fail-safe procedures and what could possibly go wrong with the water. Noctua make excellent fan coolers but this one isn't available until mid November(!), would pcspecalist be able to provide a suitable fan cooler alternative if I phoned them?
Far too many notes and what ifs(?). Happy to discuss this further.
Cheers,
Jack.
