£3500 Max Budget - Last FULL PC upgrade

Looking to make my last PC upgrade by doing a complete new setup. I do not plan to do a new setup after this, and some components are chosen with the mindset of lasting many years, and being amendable for the future (i.e. larger case and bigger power supply for future GPUs)

Current PC setup I built myself is a 3070 TI, Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB that is showing its age for current and upcoming games I want to play. It is on an AM4 motherboard, and rather than upgrade everything in the same case I would prefer to do a complete overhaul and get a new PC with all new components. I do not plan to transfer anything from the old build as I want the peace of mind knowing that this new PC will be fully covered by the warranty, and I do not wish to build it myself unless absolutely necessary (I do not enjoy PC building very much).

Expected Performance (without DLSS/FSR if possible)
Medium-High settings
120 FPS Stable on 1080p
60 FPS Stable on 1440p
Benchmarks/Games
Monster Hunter Wilds, Black Myth Wukong, Final Fantasy 16, Tides of Annihalation, Lost Soul Aside, Ninja Gaiden 4.

Monitor
MSI Optix G272 - 1920x1080 144Hz - To be upgraded at future date
Uses

Gaming
Max Budget
£3500

DISCLAIMERS

  • Deadline for this arriving is February 28th
  • Case must be white, and unless air flow is of concern I do not wish to change from the FRACTAL NORTH TG XL GAMING CASE (WHITE)
  • I do not plan to upgrade to the Nvidia 50 series, so please do not reconfigure it to be a 5070 Ti, 5080 or 5090
  • I am aware that my current monitor is only 1080p, I plan to upgrade this in the future. For now I want all my budget to go into a better PC.
  • 1000W may be overkill for 7900 XTX, but I plan to upgrade to the AMD RX 9000 series if reviews are good enough, and due to the above I will not be waiting until its release but upgrading from current

I would swap out the drives from the Samsung options as we have reports of failure, and they have lower endurance than other PCS offerings.

I wouldn't recommend the PCS cooler, if you really want a white cooler we can run this through the Luna (white) configurator; it will be more expensive but you do have the budget for it.

Depending on where that leaves you budget wise we could look at getting you the monitor now rather than later if there is room, 1440p OLEDs are down to about £450 which is where I would be looking at as a baseline for a GPU like this, if not 1440p Ultrawide or 4k.

Thanks, have swapped out the drives from Samsung to others.

I did want an all white build using Luna, but it unfortunately only has the 4060 Ti right now, and 5080 on pre-order (conflicts with time cosntraint, and is one that I do not want). 4060Ti is too close in performance to my current 3070 Ti - having said that would I be better off doing a Luna build without a GPU, use my 3070Ti for the meantime and wait for the AMD RX 9000 series? As I hear there's reports of a white one so I wonder if it's possible to upgrade to that GPU when it comes out?

I will have to have a further think on the monitor - my aim was to target upcoming sales and discounts to get one later down the line

Appreciate the help!

I assume the limited GPU selection is based on what PCS can source in white.

If this is important to you I would recommend calling PCS and explaining your situation, and seeing if they could either order on the Luna configurator without a GPU and then amend to add the 7900XTX (likely won't be a white model though), or order on the standard configurator with the suggested changes and then ask PCS if you could swap to a white Titan cooler.

Thank you, will give them a call and see what my options are!

They were able to attach the 7900XTX to the quote! I also got to re-configure a few things and ended up upgrading the ram to 64GB as I had spare left over. Thank you so much for the help!

If you are planning on buying an AMD 9000 series, then it seems pointless (and a waste of money) to be buying an XTX...you could end up losing hundreds of pounds when you go to sell it on. It definitely makes more sense to, as you suggest, buy without a GPU, use you existing GPU until the new ones arrive. I mean, it would make more sense just to hold off buying the entire system till then but you set a deadline so assuming that's not an option.

The Crucial drive: I'm not sure I see any point in spending extra for that....I have drives half that speed and never have game related issues, even when I'm also doing other things at the same time like streaming. You aren't going to benefit from the extra speed in a gaming scenario.

Personally, I would have put the spare left over into the 1200w PSU....64GB RAM is just wasted money for games like those you mention...even RAM heavy games like flight sims don't need 64

Having thought on it longer, I'll keep the 7900 XTX for a while and skip both the Nvidia 50 and 9000 series, but I do agree that without a deadline it would be best to wait.

I can see now that the Crucial drive is overkill and that 1200w would be better future proofing than the Gen 5 Crucial if comparing the two options.

The 64GB concerns are also very much warranted, failed to mention *potential* software development usage for professional needs andfor that I do apologise. For this reason I'll be keeping the 64GB

The order is processing and cannot be amended on the website due to the Sapphire 7900 XTX stock, so I will consider calling them again today and asking about amending the crucial drive and power supply as I think those are fair changes.

Appreciate the help!

There's absolutely no need to apologise...if there is a use that requires 64GB, then fair enough...I was just pointing it out in case you didn't realise that 64GB was overkill for gaming
