Turns out that this issue is massively spread and has been around for years !
I found countless forums with hundreds of people complaining about this issue.
It occurres in laptops with switchable intel/nvidia graphics.
I don't understand how you are not experiencing this issue. Maybe because we...
This is exactly how I use my unit on battery and I dont feel like the usability is reduced at all, this is just turning off the gimmicks.
Different strokes for different folks.
The only thing I can think of that is different is the BIOS/EC and maybe the 2933/3200MHz RAM.
Yep, same here, I'm experiencing this issue even when the battery is at 100%.
The chassis sold by the US reseller works great, so there is solution to this for sure.
when you tried:
1. did you connect the monitor after the laptop has already booted up ?
2. did you make sure to use the second monitor only mode ?
3. did you try on battery or plug in ?
The temps are basically the same then when unplugged with much louder fans. I think the fans relate more to clock speeds then temps on this chassis. Hence them ramping up and down all the time.
Hello,
the title basically says it all.
I'm running the laptop in office mode and changing the fan curve doesn't change much.
On battery the laptop is comfortably quiet as it should be.
Is anyone having this issue or know how to fix it.
Cheers
I get the lag ONLY on MSHybrid. When in IGPU I can't hook up a monitor since both usb c display port and hdmi are connected to the nvidea graphics. When the IGPU is disabled everything works fine. So the "solution" is either disabling the IGPU in device manager or using the dGPU only mode. But...
Hello,
When I use an external monitor in the "second monitor only mode" everything is stuttering. Everything is very laggy and therefore not usable. With everything I mean things like opening an app, minimizing or maximizing it, moving stuff across the screen, scrolling...
When in dGPU only...
I've put the laptop through more testing and restarted it a couple of times and now I have the exact same problem as @GiuFam !
During a cinebench run I get random drops in the CPU clocks and lower cinebench results: 1866 points.
So yeah the EC update is pretty much useless...
something probably went wrong during installation. Did you format the USB stick to FAT32 ? Did you use a USB 2 or 3 stick ? I have none of those issues.
The PL1 and 2 under load is now 25W instead of 5W (35W at idle). I'm getting about 2200 points in cinebench with an undervolt of -50 set in the bios: 400 points less then before the problem occurred or when in IGPU mode.
My 2080 Super Max Q is still pulling power for no reason and the CPU clocks...
